No one person can fix a defective Congress. Trump has been praised by many (even those who oppose the bill) for his role in the negotiations. Ryan screwed the pooch by doing the bill creation behind closed doors before the public unveil. He should have built consensus before it hit the light of day.

Well they didnt ban Saudi Arabia in the name of money and oil! Although Saudi Arabia funds mosques all over the world to teach wahhabism.

You better be careful we could ban Belgium too !
New law to get passed by Trump, banning of all beer, chocolate and waffles for fatties. This way less people would need healthcare, its win-win!

The fact remains that populations in the targeted countries are overwhelmingly one religion and, coupled with the past and present rhetoric that still sell it as a Muslim ban, it's not difficult to see the intent of the order.

Lol. So screw the Constitution, we reserve the right to deny any politician the ability to do their job based on loosely perceived intentions. Good luck not getting wrecked by the Supreme Court.

Winning is simply not loosing.

If they held the vote and lost it would be quite the embarrassing loss. By not holding the vote they can claim to have not lost. And the prevaricator in chief will frame that as a win.

A) Neither Trump nor anyone else in his administration named these countries. These countries were all identified (in both orders) by Obama and his administration.

B) The targeted countries are not the only ones who are overwhelmingly one religion. There are 40 other Islamic-majority countries that are not on the travel ban. The countries that are have a lot of terrorist cells in those countries and governments not will (or unable) to keep them from accessing air travel or other means of external transportation.

So, stop being dishonest and tell the truth: You don't like either order because Trump made it.

The decision quotes instances where a ban on Muslims is explicitly stated so there's no room for interpretation. Yet another instance of Trump being the victim of his own words.

There is no explicitly stated Muslim ban in the order. A vast majority of Muslims can still get into the country when the bill is in effect. It's the worst reasoning ever for blocking the order and would result in huge ramifications once that kind of precedent is established. Like I said, good luck not getting wrecked by the Supreme Court (if not sooner).

Point to where the man touched you the exact wording where either Executive Order stated that this was a Muslim ban. Hell, I dare, no, double dog dare you (***just got real), to find the word "Muslim" in either EO.

That's why my first post on the subject had the quote:

"It's easier to vote 'No' than it is to govern"

It's obvious it's political theater, that certain legislators are all talk and no action. Can't lose the game if you don't play...can't win it either.

What, exactly, was the reasoning for the selected countries then? It obviously isn't because that is where terrorists who have acted against the US came from.

From the NY times:

Trump’s First Legislative Effort Fails as G.O.P. Pulls Bill to Repeal Obamacare

Quote:
...
President Trump, through his budget director, Mick Mulvaney, told House Republicans on Thursday night that he was giving them this one chance to repeal the Affordable Care Act. If they failed, Mr. Mulvaney told them, the president would live with his predecessor’s law.

Rejection of the repeal bill may also prompt Republicans to reconsider the political strategy they were planning to use for the next few years.

“We have to do some soul-searching internally to determine whether or not we are even capable of functioning as a governing body,” said Representative Kevin Cramer, Republican of North Dakota. “If ‘no’ is your goal, it’s the easiest goal in the world to reach.”...

Obama was not implementing a complete travel ban so you can stop trying to equate him with Trump.

Reviewing the context of policies is already a precedent so, no, the court doesn't have to ignore statements outside of the EO.

Good.

What irks me the most about Ryan's bill was that he did exactly the same thing democrats/liberals did with Obamacare: Had zero democrat/liberal input, and tried to rush it.

At the very least, just repeal Obamacare first, then work at replacing it (and instead of focusing on insurance, why not address what Obamacare was intended to do in the first place, which is to make health care affordable).

Pathetic on so many levels. Go ahead, support judicial overreach when it suits your feels. There's a reason that this is viewed as fringe lunacy from activist judges, and the rulings will be shut down hard in short order.

Maybe they should use the English standard and impeach these judges based by abuse of power.

Obviously their judgement is flawed, and has no basis on reality.

They also don't have to reach so much to try to make sense of their overruling of a legally defined (by the Constitution, no less) executive.

What's worse is, they aren't applying actual laws or interpretations of actual laws in their rulings. It's all feels.
