What's sad about even engaging in these conversations is this elementary school level "what-about-ism" regarding political figures who are currently irrelevant/not in a powerful position.
hey look Joe McCarthy, I think your point would have merit if obama had declared war with russia.... but hillary pushed the "overcharged" button and we're free to capatilistically take advantage of the proletariat and all that jazz... so lighten up.
it's not a crime to know somebody who is russian... any more. or yet.
Yeah but knowing a foreigner isn't the issue that's being investigated. That type of overstatement truly undermines (which is by design and intent, obviously) the integrity of the matter.
It also creates diametrically opposed jingoistic accusations where one side is anti-Russian and the other anti-Muslim. While both sides feel they're being patriotic and wholly American.
...good times.

Yes it is. The press is trying to assassinate the character of every republican that ever did business with russia. Even though it was legal to do so and russia isn't our enemy.
and trying to paint russia as our enemy, because putin didn't like hillary, is stupid bordering on suicidal.

Oh the hyperbole not ground in truth. How I've missed ye....though Trump has attempted that to the Democrats on twitter with demands to investigate Schumer and Pelosi for having photo-ops with Russians.

Better Twitter than through the FBI.
If anything, at least it shows that Trump isn't abusing his power. Wish Obama could have said the same thing, but he abused his power the first 100 days in office....
Solyndra says hi.

Yeah, but remember, Comey is above partisanship. After all, it is 100% impossible for a lawman or a judge to actually act on political impulses. It's not supposed to happen, therefore it doesn't happen.
*Cue unicorns and rainbows*
You are making it into a partisan issue, the guy is just doing his job and from how he treated the Clinton email investigation I really doubt he was trying to help her.
I think you just unintentionally supported my point.

Same goes here, it was negligence and it most likely ended up costing her the presidency.
Keep in mind that criminal negligence is a thing.

You don't go straight to jail for stuff like that. Intent is important. If you make a mistake while filling your tax form, you don't go to jail for fraud, there needs to be a clear intent to fraud. Same goes here, it was negligence and it most likely ended up costing her the presidency. Fraud, legally speaking, has intent built into the law. So, you don't go to jail for making a mistake, you just pay the interest and penalty (you know, the punishment still associated with breaking the law).
You can still go to jail even if you didn't intend to break the law. Killing somebody is illegal, regardless of what you do. If you drink and drive, and get into a wreck that kills somebody, you still go to jail, even though you didn't intend to kill that person when you went behind the wheel intoxicated. The level of punishment is different in that case, in regards of intent to kill somebody. There is no way around it.
Comey's "intent" clause doesn't excuse Clinton from knowingly breaking the law (guess what? She created the server to bypass FOIA laws. The evidence, you ask? The mere fact that the servers exist and used for the sole purpose of having official government communications on such server shows that she knowingly broke the law. She is also a god damn politician with access to Top Secret information. She had to had some knowledge regarding that, regardless if she "remembers" or not. "Extreme carelessness" is the best she could have hoped for.). She broke the law, she did so knowingly, and it would have been a super easy case to prove that. Comey knew that, and either didn't want her to go to jail or was pressured from above (highly likely, given the circumstances) to outright lie that she didn't "intend" to break the law.
I can't believe you are bending the facts so much like this.

Doesn't that only apply if it caused someone's injury or death?
Usually, but not always. I think the exact legal term in this case was "gross negligence", however.

Do you think that's at the best interest of the American public? Oh wait, you do cause you are Canadian and don't even care about what happens in America.

That's a convenient excuse but doesn't pass for journalism. Problem with opinion editorials is that they tend to validate bias in the never ending effort to marginalize.
Ex:
This Op-Ed article by Ann Coulter about the privatization of all health and social services is proof that all conservatives are opportunists looking to extract as much money as they can from the sick and the poor
This Op-Ed article by Laura Dunham on why she's a feminist and will vote for Clinton is proof that all liberals are feminists that love their queen Hillary.
Ectera.. ectera... It's just dumb.

Yeah, let me pull the current top news headlines that I see from Fox News:
"Ivanka's West Wing office is Trump's latest conflict of interest, ethics experts say"
"Manafort confirms work for Russian billionaire, denies pushing country's 'political interests'"
"Shots fired at UK Parliament; officer stabbed and assailant shot, reports say"
Oooooo, so bad! Now let's take the filter off and look at WaPo:
"Tillerson's next challenge: Reassuring senators on Russia over lunch"
"US-Mexico security cooperation is at a historic high. Will that change under Trump?"
"Live from a parallel universe, it's Kellyanne Conway on 'Fox & Friends'!"

Hillary used her email server to kill someone? That's a completely different thing, I used the tax comparison because it's paperwork.

I'm trying to avoid injecting my opinion while stating facts as much as possible while making it clear when I want to add my opinion, but I can see you clearly aren't trying at all. So, all we get from you is that it's ok for politicians to hold top secret documentation on an unsecured email server off site of the federal government to avoid FOIA laws and open for hacking by foreign powers, as long as it's doesn't directly kill anyone and/or affect any Canadian who doesn't know what sort of repercussions this would do to the nation as whole, as long as the person who did it is considered The Chosen Oneā¢.
