Bush really wasn't reviled until after his presidency
omfg... dude.. the democrats hated him with a white hot passion of a thousand suns from day one. Maybe you forgot the "al gore won" crowd...
everyone from james carville to hunter s. thompson yelled from the rooftops of the world that bush was an idiot and so was everyone that voted for him...
didn't do kerry a lick of good.
I will
never stop laughing at the major parties shooting themselves in the *** with subpar candidates and horrible tactics.
2000: Hey Al, make sure to properly distance yourself from a supremely popular two term President
2004: Anyone but Kerry runs against W and it's a landslide victory
2008: Maybe vet your VP choice a little more thoroughly in the next life, John
2012: Romney was fine until he decided to disavow the things that made him acceptable to the center (and if he runs in 2016 instead, I think he ends up the nominee and eventually President)
2016: Trump beat
sixteen challengers in the GOP primaries with no ground game and no party support, and he's still going to lose by historic margins to someone with higher disapproval than the sitting President
The only decent candidates in the last twenty+ goddamned years are '92 Clinton, '00 Bush (pre-war, "Compassionate Conservative" edition), '08 Obama (who really is a supremely gifted campaigner) and '12 Romney (pre-lurch to the right).
