STR. Always STR. Increases attack and ups the base damage on your WSs.
Only exception is if you are say BLM only then INT. Otherwise STR.

3 Str 2 Dex is also acceptable for Elvaan cuz it gives you the same Dex as Hume and then still like 5 more str :x ending the discussion for best DD race :p lol
Edit** Also nice for Jin mods, but it is so hot seeing 80 base str as a 75 mnk/war(or nin/war sam/war etc)

I fail to see where DEX enters into the equation for either MNK or NIN...
For nin, DEX is a Jin modifier... however I'd never even think of meriting it for that purpose.

So if you go 3str/2dex and the galka 5str you'll have equal str but 1 less dex than the galka 5str > 5 dex in terms of merits, because it applies to all of your damage. But if you're stuck between 5 dex and 5 str in melee gear, then go w/ the dex because the str's bonus is only applied to your DoT while the acc you get from the dex is also applied to ws frequency
