I know that doesn't relate to the context of the article or story but lets not pretend raping is justified in any manner.

If any of them would have actually read instead of making assumptions based on the abstract and the initial reactions of their buddies on here, they probably would have questioned the methodology, which is some what questionable.

Quote:
In the following paragraphs, we emphasize what can and what cannot be deduced from the study. First of all, we found small-to-medium sized correlations between holding favorable views of Republican candidates, conservatism, and *** receptivity. Given these effect sizes, it must be noted that far from all conservatives see profoundness in pseudo-profound *** statements. Certainly, some liberals also see profoundness in *** statements, while some conservatives may clearly reject profoundness in *** statements. Nevertheless, there is an overall tendency for conservatives relative to liberals to see profoundness in *** statements.

Second, we want to note that the sample of the present study probably is not representative of the US as our study is restricted to the specific sample of Amazon Mechanical Turk workers and has a relatively small sample size for an online survey. Thus, one cannot make inferences about the entire population of the US (or other populations of other countries). However, this does not undermine the significance of the present research. As is usual in psychological studies, associations between constructs are tested. Whether these associations hold for different populations is surely interesting, but beyond the scope of most psychological studies, including the present research. In this context, we also want to note that some participants might be non-naïve or trustworthy, as some participants regularly and systematically participate in online studies via the Amazon Mechanical Turk platform [12]. Nonetheless, research shows that valid results in psychological research can be obtained using Amazon Mechanical Turk [10,13].

Honestly, do any of actually read anything people post on here without jumping to conclusions? Your reactions were so predictable.

TL;DR, the SMBC that Rooks posted.

Confirmation bias is strong and you always have to be diligent you don't fall for it, because it's really pretty easy even for the most well-meaning of true skeptics.

Yes yes very biased reasoning
Quote:

This is by no means the author expressing awareness that results could be intentionally skewed by the participants own agendas.

Quote:
One cannot conclude that conservatism leads to *** receptivity. What can be concluded is that conservatism is positively associated with seeing profoundness in *** statements and that those who have favorable views of Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio are more likely to judge *** statements as profound compared with individuals who have less favorable views of these candidates

This is totally not saying that if you like a person you look past their *** because you like them. Cause you know that totally never happens in real life. Must be bias.

But please go ahead and dismiss cause much like how one can look past the *** of people we like, we dismiss the truths from people we don't like. Cause you know,"bias".

I do see a lot of people defending and/or bashing this particular study without knowing the inner workings of it based solely on where they sit on the political spectrum.

HOWEVER, double blind studies mean jack squat if the assumptions and definitions used in carrying out the study are biased. This is clearly a topic that is more subjective than objective, so creating a test environment that allows for meaningful conclusions is difficult and the whole thing should probably be taken with a grain of salt and not as scientific fact.

Don't feel like delving into details of my personal finances and business, but Pennsylvania and my township are doing their best to persuade me I'm wrong about more than a few things relating to government regulation.

Just thought I'd share that with y'all because some of you might get a kick out of it and someone may as well get some joy out of these things, because I'm certainly only getting a headache.

Yes but again I say, when the change is demonstrably worse, changing for the sake of change is more foolish still.

Nobody is.

However, this one case isn't "empowering women's rights" or "demonizing men" or whatever agenda she is after, she can't call something rape when it's not...

I can't tell what you mean by demonstrably worse with the information given is basically "Big Government" is giving me a headache..

Which is fine idc.. I know the past 10 years have been a change for the worse and the person you most likely will vote for isn't going to help at all.

Meh as much as I agree with you, this particular article seems to be lying for sensationalism. She doesn't claim this is rape, she says it's a "rape representation" and made arrangements to have a stranger have sex with her so it'd feel closer to reality.
This isn't even rape representation.

For her to actually represent rape, she needs to go through the process of what rape is. This event doesn't even start with rape, so she cannot say that it represents it.

Otherwise, people will confuse porn as real-life events of love.

Then why did people vote for Obama?

It was obvious that his brand of change is demonstrably worse. And yet, he was voted into office.

You can't use that excuse on Trump. He is an unknown factor because he hasn't produced any feasible plans for running the government, yet.

There are people who are confused between fiction and reality.

Like Mrs. "I'm raped even though I invited that guy to my apartment to film him having sex with me just so I can make a political statement." Damn, she needs to shorten her name a little....

Besides, that wasn't my point in my argument....

People voted for Obama because his ideas were no where near being "demonstrably worse." Get out of Iraq, end the tax cuts, don't vote for the guy that wants to keep us in war, it wasn't a hard concept.

It's from The Daily Mail. Basically, a British tabloid masquerading as a news aggregate.

Right, and people also voted for higher unemployment, more racism, a recession that doesn't seem to go away, more terrorism (granted, nobody could have predicted that), and stagnant wages.

Because that's what they got with Obama. And people were saying that back in 2008....

Representation in a film pretty much means acting.
At least with acting, you pretend that you are strongarmed into something you don't want to do.

In her "representation" it doesn't look like she fought back or even tried to get away from him.
