Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Be 30+ Hour RPG, Team Feels at Liberty to Make Changes
Niche Gamer

Despite what the title of the article says it will be released as a trilogy and the first installment will be 30+ hours of gameplay.

Quote:
The Final Fantasy VII Remake has seen its share of controversy once Square Enix confirmed the game would be broken up into a trilogy, or that it would have to carefully implement scenes that would now be looked at as controversial.

Now, the latest issue of Game Informer* has the development team sounding off a little bit regarding the upcoming PlayStation 4 remake.

Yoshinori Kitase, Tetsuya Nomura, and Kazushige Nojima (the writer for the original Final Fantasy VII) feel they are at liberty to make changes to the beloved classic game, because they all worked on the original game. They said in terms of plot, nothing is off limits in terms of changes being made.

Now before you ready your pitchfork and brightly lit torch, they did make a note in saying they won’t change everything – they’re focused on balancing changes made while also making fans happy.

In regards to the length of the first game in the trilogy, they’re expecting it to last at least 30 hours in one playthrough, with the entire development team focused on making the development cycle for the remake much shorter than Final Fantasy XV, which has been in development for, well, almost a decade.

The developer mentioned this before, saying that “each entry will have the volume of content equal to a full-sized game.”
