I think just as passionately as a liberal will cling to the opposite, a conservative will cling to any reason to deny change or progress.
All we can do is try to sway the odds in our favor electorally sadly.
Not true.
A conservative doesn't want change just to change ***.
If the advancement of society requires change in the environment (doesn't mean physical environment, just changes in the overall structure of the world or industry), a conservative generally would want that change to occur. But that doesn't mean we
have to change something because somebody either A) got offended and feels were hurt, B) demands change to prevent feels from being hurt or C) just because.
Change never means progress. Because most change is either a sidegrade or downgrade from the original.
"Change never means progress?"
What? That's quite a claim.
And KN how do you personally tell if someone is just whining, it if it's a genuine human rights issue like"those damn blacks are whining about their feels and rights to voting again"
I try to look at it logically and giving everyone the same basic human rights if that makes sense to you? And then I go from there.
Change never means progress because progress only happens when everyone benefits. Equal rights is progress, and yes, there are idiots and bigots out there who will fight against that.
But not everything needs to be changed or changed to what a progressive thinks is right. Case in point: Obamacare, where beforehand you were given the option of having health insurance or not, now you are required by law to have it, if you can afford it or not. Progressives make it sound like only the super poor can't afford it, but losing 9.5% of your paycheck (the maximum amount that can be legally charged to an employee) before taxes is still a significant amount, especially if you were living paycheck by paycheck
before you were forced into this law.
How is that progress, when you put people in a worse situation than before?
