But shh shh, conservatives get mad when you talk about Bush because "OBAMA *** RVERYHTNG UP STAHP TALKING ABOUT BUSH ALREADY" :P
It's incredibly short-sighted to look at the exact end-of-term approval rating and pretend that it's the only number that matters. Should we look at the CNN poll in 2015 where Dubya had a higher approval rating than Obama? Hindsight's an interesting thing.
I said before his last year (34%) sums up his entire tenure. Before that it was incredibly perilous to oppose Bush for fear of being labeled unpatriotic. Oppose the Iraq war? Get shouted down. Oppose the troop surge? Get shouted down. Obama opposed the troop surge but the scorn from the GOP was so absurd he just had to abandon it. It wasn't even talked about during the 2008 campaign. It wasn't until it was beyond obvious there was no active WMD program in Iraq that people finally realized it was all a waste and we needed to get out. And that really didn't sink in until late 2006ish.

People forget just how bad people were. ***look how Lincoln is suddenly nowadays the greatest president ever after George Washington.
I didn't realize people thought Washington was the "greatest President ever." o.O

Gitmo should have been closed a long time ago, there is no reason for it to be open, there is no reason these people can't be thrown in 24/7 solitary here in the US. Its just irrational GOP fear that is stopping it. These people are hardly more dangerous than the worst of our criminals.

Obama doesn't close Gitmo in his first couple years with majorities in Congress... and it's the GOP's fault. Classic.

Yeah it is. Completely. A senate majority doesn't break a filibuster, thought you guys would have learned that after 7 years of gridlock. Gitmo is open because of the GOP.

Make health insurance affordable, bring the USA closer together, Reduce the Veterans Benefits Administration claims backlog, Work with Russia to move nuclear weapons off hair-trigger alert, End no-bid contracts above $25,000, Prevent drug companies from blocking generic drugs, Allow Medicare to negotiate for cheaper drug prices, Encourage diversity in media ownership,
My favorite. Allow five days of public comment before signing bills.

Lincoln > FDR > George Washington as President. Washington did all of his major work, which was spectacular of course, before he was President.

With all this preaching of equality, it's no wonder that the Right doesn't take the Left's racism claims seriously. Racism against minorities is allegedly rampant, yet racism against the majority apparently doesn't exist and/or isn't worth mentioning because... reasons? Whites are apparently systematically holding minorities back and denying them "privileges", yet whites look at their white friends and family and can't find anyone actually doing that. Whites and minorities can be equally yoked educationally and economically, but which one of those groups will end up getting more scholarships by default? I think lumping people into "Right" and "Left" seems too much of a generalization. There are people across the spectrums who can and can't properly identify and address the real causes and problems, and are instead pointing fingers. You're right to dismiss a ***Facebook repost that use sweeping generalizations, but there's a tendency for people to dismiss the issue after only hearing those weak arguments.

Lol, you are trying so hard to make this a GOP thing. John McCain has been begging for years for a plan to close Gitmo. With all the crap that Obama has pulled, do you really think he was afraid of a filibuster? And hey, look at this gem:
Quote: In November three former senior Obama administration attorneys argued that the president had the constitutional power to ignore the legal restrictions Congress has placed on bringing dangerous detainees to the United States.
Oh, so he could still do it without Congress approval if he really wanted to? Yeah Vic, keep trying to spin this one. You might be able to knit a sweater out of this yarn.

McCain is one guy that couldn't bring the votes. His support doesn't mean anything if he can't get the rest of his party onboard, instead blaming Obama. The Senate has never had the votes needed to close Gitmo.
As for that "gem," 3 guys saying its legal doesn't make it so. The law says they can't be brought to the US, I don't know what their argument was but its hard to believe a conservative would side with a few attorneys and advocate Obama ignore the law. There is no spin here, its cut and dry, Gitmo is open because of the GOP. Pretty soon its going to be empty..and open.

I am on the verge of cracking up laughing here.
I recall President Obama saying something along the lines of, "I'm going to close Guantanamo Bay." Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he said, "I'm going to talk about closing Gauntanamo Bay for my entire presidency, but I'm not even going to write up so much as a proposal unless I have a super majority in both houses of Congress."
Put the blame where it actually belongs for the first time in Obama's presidency. Can't ride that GOP blame train forever.

I think it's almost ritualistic that virtually every president has some extremely lofty ambition or goal of achieving to make a name for their legacy. Sadly reality and the nuances therein is a cruel, cruel mistress.
Something tells me that once he got into office, there was something compelling enough to make him think twice about that decision or sweep it under the rug altogether. Most unfortunate.

Laugh it up. Rack up the likes. Whats your case again? Obama should ignore the law and move the Gitmo detainees to the US, which is unconstitutional? Thats what you are saying? How does that happen?

It happens the way he's been skirting the law with his presidential powers all along, just like Bush did. Besides, I'm not saying he should do it that way. He should have done it in 2009, when I guarantee you that the reason he chose not to had nothing to do with the big bad filibuster boogie man.

You popular guy Rav. All those likes got nothing to do with you being 100% right. I'll say this, you got Vic writing more than 2-3 sentences. Congratulations! That wasn't a real bet was it.? /panic

How could he have done it in 2009? As for "skirting the law," that is a clear break, it would have been killed in the courts just like his immigration actions were.

Oh, I dunno, why don't you ask Obama? After all, he signed an executive order in Jan. 2009 saying that it would be closed within the year, then never made the effort to follow through with it. He could have devoted more resources to finding out a solution to the logistical problems. He didn't. The GOP had little to nothing to do with it.
Stop, seriously. You're going nowhere with this.
