If welfare is supposed to suppress crime, how come it's not working in communities of high welfare recipients?
Although, to be honest, they are only stealing from themselves. Crime is still there though.

Look I get it I came from nothing.
as did I, I just choose not to ascribe anything special to it.
I never touched a welfare program because I did not want a handout.
Title 19 saved my ***, and is semi-responsible for aiding in getting my adopted daughter to 2-3. These programs help people all across the board. we only needed it for a year or two, but life isn't as cut and dry as we'd all like it to be. I know exactly what you're saying, and you're right to an extent. Giving people just enough money to survive hobbles them, and makes them resentful. There's a fine balance there that needs to be found, but it's not hardline capitalism, nor socialism.

I was going to make a snappy remark, but then I saw this:

So let me see if I get this.... I busted my *** to get where I am in life, so now I have to bust my *** to get you to a good place in life because you choose not to?
think of it this way:
If you help to provide opportunities for the poverty stricken, maybe they won't rob your convenience store. there are plenty of selfish reasons we can apply here.
Look I get it I came from nothing. No one paid my way I worked for it. I joined Army right out of high school because I knew my parents could not afford to send me to college, i was the youngest of 3. My brother joined the Air Force right out of high school as well because he too knew my parents could not afford to send us to college. I was 19 when I had my first child and was away from that child when deployed. Had second child at 21. I knew I needed to bust my *** to make it because people depended on me. After Army was over I went to school and became a RN then on to Nurse Practitioner. I never touched a welfare program because I did not want a handout. I also did not want to spend 1 year x2 in a far distant war zone, but I did what I had to do to support my family. Others have the same opportunity I had they just refuse to grasp it. No, they don't all have the same opportunity. Assuming they do, is just ridiculous.
Think about the requirements for joining any military branch: They have to be able to complete basic training, meaning they have to be physically capable to do so, and not everyone is, as well as pass the basic mental health screening.
Nikolce pointed this out before, but agreeing to serve for X amount of years in exchange for education (which is a military subsidy) is a welfare program for those who could otherwise not afford to go on to advanced education without grants, loans, or other welfare programs. Which makes your claim about not touching a welfare program false.
Think beyond yourself for a moment, and the areas people live in. Or the situations and scenarios they find themselves in. Hell, pick up a novel and read. There are plenty of situations where some have to forego opportunities, in order to look after their families, so that the next generation can have those opportunities to advance themselves.
On a fourth note, Providing new, or opening and expanding opportunities is not "giving" people an out. They still have to work just as hard to maximize the benefits of having these new or extra opportunities made available, that they don't have now.

and then you had the opportunity to be a nurse. Imagine if your iq was too low to handle that profession. Or imagine you had a mental illness/condition or physical ailment preventing you from succeeding there.
These people need our help, not to be treated like garbage by you conservatives just because they need more support than you do. You people trying to leave so many people behind is just making society even worse.
I'm not belittling your efforts in life and coming up from nothing is admirable, we just need to focus on a good minimum standard of living for everyone, or else those kids that lack your opportunities in life will be completely *** when they grow up.
How dare you !

You also have to include the fact that you cannot break down some people like they do in basic training.
Those people are not wired to take orders without question or thought.

Don't worry I do my best to make society worse by not caring !

There was a time I could make it through basic training, but injured my back at 18. So that made that opportunity go poof on me.

I do my best for society by not caring enough to take over the world.
I'm willing to nuke Canada when I feel like it though.

Nuke the part closest to Alaska, and leave all our maple syrup and moose alone.

I have to comment on the welfare thing....
When I got laid off in July 2015, I paid for whatever bills etc. while looking for a job, being turned down constantly. While doing so, I went and got food stamps and I do not regret getting them. I was at zero income and little savings left. How else was I to feed my kid, myself, and since I live in my mother's basement for the time being, my rent had to be replaced on providing food using my food stamps to cover my portion? I went through interviews left and right and no job yet. I was NOT being lazy....I tried my hardest, changed my resume around, different job fields, and even went as far as dropping my job pay from 50k year to taking almost about anything. I finally did get a job the end of December, it doesn't give me 50k like I would like BUT since I do make too much over the limit, I no longer have food stamps.
I don't believe that all people on welfare are lazy cause I know I am not.
In Maryland, you can't get cash assistance unless you had child support coming in from your baby's father/mother and you have to work in a job program if you do get cash assistance. So I even though me a single mom, no job, no child support, I was rejected and couldn't get all welfare benefits, only food stamps.
I am also glad for the obamacare website thing, cause since i got laid off, I qualified for health insurance for me and my child after the date it was over, free.
I am not trying to start anything but I do get a bit peeved that not everyone sees there are folks like me who do go for welfare benefits. I don't live in a poverty area either, I actually live in one of the highest living areas in Maryland. So I was grateful to have some help while I found a job.

For something like this I have no problem with. I do however have a problem when collecting welfare is turned into a career and passed down to your children. Before people say this doesn't happen I call *** I see it all the time in the medical field. Parent A: I have NY Medicaid..4-5 years later child a pops out a kid at 16 and boom I now have medicaid and food stamps for life now too.

I just want Bernie Sanders to keep his promise of getting rid of corrupt political figures/policies. No one else is even touching that issue. Probably another trap like Obama was, but oh well what can be done anyways? At least Bernie addresses the issue instead of laughing about it like Hillary or passing the blame-buck like Trump has.

I will tell you that it is not really the people receiving the benefits fault. It was super easy for me to get the food stamps cause they don't ask for much at all to prove you need them. I thought I needed everything from 2 forms of proof of my address with a letter that I pay rent, bills I have to pay, anything to show it was me including SSN, birth certificate. But I didn't need proof of residence or proof I pay rent. So since the system does not do everything the MVA, bank, or whatever place to prove it is true. Many can get benefits. But everything is tied to your SSN, so it alerts the place if you got a job, made income, or whatever. So as long as you don't have income showing on your SSN, you can get benefits as long as you need as long as you recertify. You do have to get recertified for food stamps every few months.
I don't disagree that there are people who take advantage and do what they are taught or shown. I just don't like it made like anyone on benefits are lazy, in poverty, druggies, etc.

Whoever gets in the presidential hot seat will conveniently forget all of the election promises they made to get voters on their side. And just do whatever benefits them and their business buddies most. Like all politicians do.

I think we should ban women it's been too long since they have been trying to overtake the patriarchy. I heard Hillary is going to require all men to be sterilized.
Can you imagine that a woman telling a man what to do ? What kind of world do we want to live in...
