Post history would have been nice, but the existing schema is not friendly to it, and I think from a workflow perspective just forcing people to go to the next post is a more natural fit anyway. Like, in my opinion pie will generally be better than cake but the best cake will always be better than pie. and yes I tried to edit the rules node and failed...

You can delete/repost as well, but abusing that as a way around the edit lock will not be looked upon favorably. If there's a real reason something HAS to be edited in place, it's not really any different than editing post titles now, so sure. Why are you making tables for p&r? What are you writing a guide on how to be a politician?
