Its the sign of the times and it's pretty much happening everywhere. When the vast majority of people worry about there health, wealth, and safety this happens. I am glad I am pretty secure but I feel for others.

Actually no, Hitler wasn't making war time strategic decisions, his extremely competent Generals were. The German Officer Corps are some of the finest, best trained Officers in the world. Their military genius was one of the corner stones of how the German military crushed everyone else.... Actually Hitler made some fairly important strategic decisions, ones that lost the war IMHO.
1, He delayed Operation Sea Lion until it was invalid as a concept. He should have loaded everything he had on anything that floated immediately after Dunkirk.
2, He opened up the Eastern front while he still had a campaign in Africa and England to worry about.
3, He wasted the finest military mind of the whole war in what he considered a sideshow. I am talking Rommel in N Africa. BTW I believe that only Rommel saw the strategic importance of N. Africa rather than seeing it as a sideshow or stepping stone.
4, The ME 262 could well have been the roof over fortress Europe. But Hitler upon seeing it immediately named it "the blitz bomber" and therefore sidelined it.
These were all personal decisions. And personally I am SO glad he made those miscalls.

Yeah but the posts that were deleted were in response to some other posts (that weren't deleted). Seems like someone just doesn't like the Maldini. How much would it cost to buy this website? Tell the owner I'll gladly pay him up to 10k USD just to ban the mods that are targeting me.
edit: dead serious. 10k USD

Not really.
That would mean Germany would have had to invade the US which wouldn't have happened. At worst if they never invaded the USSR it would have been the Middle East and India.
Once Germany attacked Russia the war was over with or without the USA. You never know when they would have stopped Mr. Floppy

wow all my posts deleted by the mods... why? All reported posts and posts off topic (from the last page) were deleted. That was the criteria, not any specific person. Last page is only a few posts now.
Directed at everyone: Stay on topic, or any more reports will kill this thread.

Even if Germany won the war and didn't invade the US, we would all be speaking in German.
If Germany won the war, the founders of hollywood wouldn't have migrated to the US. Hollywood never would have happened - meaning the international pop culture we enjoy today would have never happened.
We would all be listening to Wagner.
That doesn't sound so bad actually.
Wagner or Justin Beiber.. i think the choice is clear.

There will be a distinction made between a few trying to purposely ruin the thread versus everyone talking about US military hardware, for instance. That topic has no relevance on European issues relating to nationalism or populism, except in brief passing. This topic is important to people, hence the issue relating to full on discussions unrelated.
Just stay on topic and you'll have nothing to worry about. It's a warning for all people, including to the people reporting.

The topic is "Populism and nationalism on the rise in Europe" kinda impossible not to draw Hitler and WWII into it.
We should refrain from discussing military strategy, tactics, and machines though.

Actually we do from history.
The Germans lacked the resources from the start for such a grandscale war. They certainly could not have supplied it all the way across the Atlantic. India would be obvious if there was no war with Russia as it was British at the time.
Germany was losing the war in '43 before America even entered.
The Germans weren't worried though and that attitude of the war persists to this day in peoples interpretation. The nationalism we saw then seems to be human nature. The follies we saw, and the attitude are the same exact ones affecting both Europe and the US today.
EU is dealing with millions of refugees coming into their area. Its normal for there to be some kneejerk nationalistic sentimental backlash reaction. It is temporary and time stamped to the current geo political situation.
EU (western europe) culture and society is firmly in tact and won't revert back to what it was 100 years ago. The european continent is scared with harsh reminders of what happens when they get too inflamed in nationalistic fervor; Millions of people die!
The US on the other hand hasn't been burnt yet. I say that the US is on a trajectory towards civil war because a person like Trump, who has attacked every single minority (latinos, blacks) has 35% of the republican vote in the polls. While that will alarm a lot of democrats and independents, I have to say - what did you guys think was going to happen?
Obama's presidency has been plagued with things like challenging his birth certificate, the Tea Party, Obama being a "secret mozlem". Look at how many cities only in the past two years have had riots and demonstrations due to racist police. How many whistleblowers have come out of the US in the past 4 years?
Heck most texans want to leave the union.
America is going to implode on itself within the next 20 years. It has happened before to other nations/empires that have suffered the same symptoms. most prominently among those symptoms is the MASSIVE WEALTH DISPARITY.

I don't consider myself rich but I go where I want , buy what I want and do not worry about it. I have friends who have to worry bout such matters though and I am always interested in how they view the world. Guess it does not matter where you are in the world these days. Sad issues everywhere.

I don't think these nationalistic sentiments should be dismissed. Not anymore at least. True these people always existed, but like Kara pointed out forever pages ago, they used to be a very small minority. Now they're on par with other parties in most countries, and even ahead in a few...that's superfuckingdangerous.
Those people burning camps in Sweden? It doesn't feel all that weird and isolated to us in Europe cause we see everyday people getting angrier and siding with parties that exploit said anger and incite seclusion, breaking the union, going to war, building walls.
Hungary and Slovenia have already started building walls across the borders, that sounds like something from another era but it's happening right now, and it should not be ignored.

If you don't live here then why so much concern about America Nostradomus? I can't imagine it'll ever happen. If it did. It wouldn't be the 1st time. You sound like the media trying to make things sound a lot more spicy than they really are. The fact that you don't live here just means that you are the product of such spicy information. Which at the end of the day means very little to nothing. It's all about those ratings.

A lot of what happens in America affects the whole world I believe that but being so apocalyptic with your vision of America's future is pointless. Things are never as bad as the media portrays things to be. I'm sure America will be fine. 318 million ppl live in America. 99.99% of everyone here do not wind up in your NEWS source information. Too much drama over nothing.

Its as simple as terrorism works. It makes people afraid.
Then you have politicians who live off these fears. And do just what the terrorists want.
The reemergence of nationalism on the right side of the spectrum should not surprise anyone.
This is ISIS winning the battle for hearts and minds.

These trends point towards a prosperous future for the US:
- Back in the 1970s, about one out of every 50 Americans was on food stamps. Today, about one out of every 6 Americans is on food stamps.
- Four planet Earths would be required to sustain the levels of consumption of the U.S.
-1 American consumes the same amount of resources as 32 Kenyans.
-8 billion chickens are consumed annually in the US
-1 out of every 8 Americans have been employed by McDonald's at some point in their lives.
-Only one state in the entire country has an obesity rate of under 20 percent. 11 states have an obesity rate of over 30 percent.
-27% of Americans believe the moon landings were faked
-America has the highest incarceration rate and the largest total prison population in the entire world by a wide margin.
- 9 million people are in prison around the world, 25% of that number is in the US alone.
-Approximately 12–13% of the American population is African-American, but they make up 60% prison inmate population
-In 2014, police in the United States killed 1,100 people. During that same year, police in Canada killed 14 people, police in China killed 12 people and police in Germany didn’t kill anyone at all.
-When LBJ’s “War on Poverty” began, less than 10 percent of all U.S. children were growing up in single parent households. Today, that number has skyrocketed to 33 percent.
-In 1950, less than 5 percent of all babies in America were born to unmarried parents. Today, that number is over 40 percent.
-Why does the family unit matter? because The poverty rate for households that are led by a married couple is 6.8 percent. For households that are led by a female single parent, the poverty rate is 37.1 percent.
- According to one recent survey, 81 percent of Russians now have a negative view of the United States. That is much higher than at the end of the Cold War era.
- According to a study conducted by economist Carl Benedikt Frey and engineer Michael Osborne, 47 percent of the jobs in the United States could soon be lost to computers, robots and other forms of technology.
-MGTOW: 86 percent of men include “having children” in their definition of success. For women, that number is only 73 percent.
-America has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the world by a very wide margin.
-Approximately one out of every four teen girls in the United States has at least one sexually transmitted disease.
-America has the highest STD infection rate in the entire industrialized world.
-According to the latest figures released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, there are 20 million new sexually-transmitted infections in the United States every single year, and Americans in the 15 to 24-year-old age range account for approximately 50 percent of those new sexually-transmitted infections.
-Apple has more cash than the US Treasury.
-Americans spend more on health care per capita than anyone else in the world by far, and yet we only rank 35th in life expectancy.
-Only 30 percent of all Americans can tell you in what year the 9/11 attacks happened.
-According to a study conducted by the Mayo Clinic, nearly 70 percent of all Americans are on at least one prescription drug. An astounding 20 percent of all Americans are on at least five prescription drugs.
-Americans spend more than 280 billion dollars on prescription drugs each year.
-According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, doctors in the United States write more than 250 million prescriptions for antidepressants each year. (in a population of 320 million)
-Children in the United States are three times more likely to be prescribed antidepressants than children in Europe are.
-War on Drugs (just not corporate drugs): In the United States today, prescription painkillers kill more Americans than heroin and cocaine combined.
-56 percent of all Americans now have “subprime credit”.
-America leads the world in money given to fake charities.
- In 2008, 53 percent of all Americans considered themselves to be “middle class”. In 2014, only 44 percent of all Americans consider themselves to be “middle class”.
- 40 percent of all workers in the United States actually make less than what a full-time minimum wage worker made back in 1968 after you account for inflation.
-America has the largest national debt in the history of the world. Back in 1980, the U.S. national debt was less than one trillion dollars. Today, it is over 17 trillion dollars.
-There is a city in the US actually called "HELL".
More specifically to the OP:
Quote: The European Union is under threat from rising populism and nationalism fuelled by a record migrant influx, European Parliament president Martin Schulz warned Tuesday.
"The European Union is in danger. No one can say whether the EU will still exist in this form in 10 years," Schulz said in an interview with German newspaper Die Welt.
In the EU there were now "forces at work to drive us apart," said the German politician.
"We must avoid this because the consequences would be dramatic."
The alternative to the EU would be a "Europe of nationalism, a Europe of borders and walls" -- a formula that had led the continent into "catastrophe" repeatedly in the past, Schulz said.
Germany is on course to take in one million asylum seekers this year, half of them from Syria.
Schulz voiced concern about a lack of solidarity by many EU members in hosting the refugees, and about moves by several eastern European countries to build new barriers.
He said "the retreat of many governments into nation-based thinking is fatal".
"No country alone can handle challenges such as migration, climate change, terrorism, trade and international crime. We can only do it together, as the EU." This is an important topic imo. Cause what happened in France the other day with the extreme right winning the majority of votes is not an isolated case. It's happening all over Europe, and in Italy too the far right gains worrying levels of consensus.
Philip II of Macedon said dividi et impera. The more our union falls apart, the weaker we become and a fertile ground for more wars.
