GameStop Employee Maced In Shocking Assault By 'Sonic' Fanboy Over Sonic's Arms: 'Sonichu' Creator Jailed
By Christopher Groux, Design & Trend
Popular Internet meme creator Christian Weston Chandler was recently arrested after attempting to deface a "Sonic Boom" game display at a GameStop in Charlottesville, Va. He also assaulted a store employee with mace before forcibly exiting the popular games retailer.
The news comes to Design & Trend from Sega Nerds, which describes and provides video evidence of the entire incident. As discussed by eyewitnesses, Chandler reportedly entered the store and was asked to leave. It was revealed that Chandler had previously been involved with a similarly disgraceful incident at the same GameStop before.
After store employees tried to swarm Chandler to leave the premises, he protested and attacked one member of the group with a substance confirmed to be mace. You can watch a video of that exact moment of the assault below.

After being forcibly removed, rumors suggest that Chandler may have tried to carjack an individual outside of the shopping center where the attack occurred. However, that part of the story has not been officially corroborated.
What would cause one man to become so enraged with "Sonic Boom" that he must bring harm to a retailer and its patrons? As evident by Chandler's website, the man is a massive fan of "Sonic The Hedgehog." In previous blog entries, he expressed extreme discontent that Sega's popular speedster featured completely blue arms in the "Sonic Boom" game and its accompanying TV series. As fans of Sonic may, or may not, recall, the iconic hedgehog's arms are typically partially peach-colored like his face.
Since discovering this anomaly in early 2014, Chandler has taken it upon himself to embark on a crusade against Sega and the entire "Sonic" franchise. In fact, in the past, Chandler even sent death threats to prominent Sega employees mandating that the show's designers revise Sonic's arms or else.
These days, that frustration manifests itself in one particular "Sonic Boom" hater defacing every copy of "Sonic Boom" that he sees.
For those that haven't heard of Christian Chandler before, he's most known for creating the awesomely bad "Sonichu" webcomic series. As its name implies, the plot follows a character that's a combined resemblance of Sonic and Pikachu. In current times, its issues are known for their silly plots, sexual content and terrible illustrations. Chandler typically uses the "Sonichu" comic to lash out against Internet trolls that have caused him harm in real life.
As for the result of Chandler's mace GameStop assault, "Sonic's" enraged fanboy was jailed for a hearing that occurred yesterday. The results of that trial are not yet known.
Despite the fact that Chandler expressed his intense displeasure in an uncommon way, most industry critics agree that "Sonic Boom: Rise Of Lyric" was a poor addition to the long-running "Sonic" game series. Currently, it has an aggregate score of just 32 on Metacritic.
The Cartoon Network TV series of "Sonic Boom" has experienced peak and trough ratings since it debuted in November.
