if odyssey is completely out of the picture, then you're basically down to spamming oseem (fern stones) for decent 5% WSD Chironic Gear, or (dark matter) for decent 10% WSD Chironic.
You're looking for 5-10% WSD with the best you can get of STR/DEX/MND/CHA + acc/atk you can get.

As far as I remember, I was using 5/5 Bihu pre-nyame just because of the raw attack it provides as well as the okay strength, if you don't wanna spend the money on that though just going unaugmented nyame is probably fine given it still provides alright offensives stats as well as DT
I think Bihu is the best option pre Nyame. I think we used to use Lustratio set abjuration, but unless you have this set already, I wouldn't bother acquiring it as a stop gap set. Bihu is sufficient and lasts longer

Got it, thanks for the tips! I might be able to get an odyssey clear for base Nyame, but augmenting it would take a while.

Chironic can't get WSD augment from normal stones.

Context (mild rant but informative) - Those are not specifically the "Best in Slot Bard TP Sets". They're computer-generated sets that factor a set of pre-defined buffs vs a very specific target enemy, prioritizing speed-to-tp, and factoring in nothing else besides the 25%/50% -DT conditions. The results provided by the sim are simply numbers and it spits out what it "considers" to be -the- best possible set that achieves the fastest TP vs the target. They sometimes throw in some interesting/questionable gear choices, but that's because the program is trying to maintain optimal accuracy, -dt, and speed. It's no more of the "best" than asking a GPS to find the fastest route from Massachusetts to Texas ignoring every possible factor, and it draws a straight line and tells you to take a plane.
With that being said, the sets are a very good guide and baseline for what kind of sets BRD can make. You should look at sets like that and compare it to what you have, and then adjust accordingly. If you need more defense, magic evasion, dual wield, etc, if you are subbing dnc or war, do you have QA augment Chironic gear? High Ranked Nyame? Volte pieces? Ashera Harness? There are dozens of ways to gear a bard accordingly. "BIS TP Set" is a misnomer; it's all circumstantial and depends on situations. You have to build a set appropriate for the/most situation(s), there is not one set that rules them all.
You can also use the Item Sets page to search for sets to get ideas from
Here's the general set I run, for comparison:
ItemSet 400573
Chironic - QA+2% (3% is possible), Accuracy. I also had a STP+9 Chironic Hose that was better* than Volte Tights.
I normally /DNC, so Haste Samba and 9% DW puts me exactly where I need to be with capped magical haste. Frees up the belt slot to use Sailfi+1, which I consider a way better belt vs a DW belt, since earrings are generally weaker comparably. Also allows me to use Null Shawl, which I consider better than JSE cape for pretty much everything.
When I need tankiness: Swap legs/feet for Nyame
When I need accuracy: In addition to the above, swap belt for Kentarch +1 > Olseni > Null Belts (in that order). Swap JSE neck for Null Loop (this might be questionable). Swap Moonlight to Chirich +1. If I still have accuracy issues, either sing a Madrigal, eat sushi, or drop TP Bonus offhand for Gleti's or Crepuscular Knife.
Some people prefer Volte Tights over Nyame Flanchard, but I haven't been lucky enough to get those yet.
TLDR - Several ways to build a set for BRD TP, but I don't think the term "BIS" refers to one set. It all kinda depends.

Trying to get max base Accuracy (no buffs)
Empyrean +3/AF+4, R15 Gazu Braceletes +1, Null Accessories should get you to high a high-level of accuracy

How does a STP+9, DW+4 chironic hose fare against a QA+3 chironic hose?
Lets you hit DW9 with a single earring for /dnc or 11 with a reki for /nin, both opening up ear slots for things like alabaster earring (dt, acc, stp, haste)
Just curious if I should keep trying for QA+3 on legs or move onto something else (Don't really need anything higher priority so just grabbing misc QA pieces/refresh pieces atm)

Why would Bihu justaucorps +4 be clearly better than Nyame? It only has 1 more MND but
vs V25 it has the same WSD with 2 more STR
vs V30 it has 1% less WSD and 3 less STR
The 40 attack wouldn't come into play if GEO and box step involved?

Depends on the buff situation, but unless you're insanely buffed AND the mob is strongly debuffed, BRD often has attack problems.
Also SB isn't the only WS BRD can use, despite common belief. Bihu has 10 more CHR, 14 more DEX, and 8 more AGI. It's very significantly better for Mordant, rudra's, and ruthless.
By K123 2025-12-05 18:06:11
Referring to this where it covers SB:
https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/All_Jobs_Gear_Sets/Bard
Obviously content dependent but for Sortie bosses in a DNC set up I assume the attack is irrelevant.
Sheol C without SV might benefit from the attack? idc about Limbus, ***is easy anyway.
Trying to make sure it really is worth 30k points any time soon, don't think it is.

It was one of the upgrades I was more excited about for BRD, the bump to Mordant which is widely used was awesome. You won't regret making it if you main BRD.
The attack is nice for all use cases alongside the WSC mods.

Quote from that page:
Quote: Most Odyssey equipment assumes Rank 30. Nyame alone assumes Rank 25 Path B.
So...higher attack, 1 more MND, -2 STR. Yes, Bihu is as good or better.
Do you have R30 Nyame? If so, maybe consider having Nyame in your SB set when attack capped (including all PDL you're using in your songs/set). You'll probably find this is quite rare and that the attack is better most of the time. Safe bet: just put Bihu in.
Edit: in your situation, is it worth it to make Bihu, specifically to improve only SB? Idk, maybe not. Not my units to spend. What else do you have to upgrade? If you ever do other content, there will likely be lots of times you aren't attack capped though.
Also: Sortie isn't only Aminon. There are plenty of times during a Sortie run when you don't have dia 3, frailty, and 10 box steps on. At least in my runs there are.
You won't be attack capped on Ody bosses. You won't be attack capped for most of seg farms runs. You will be using dagger for lots of ody bosses. If you play BRD extensively, you will greatly benefit from Bihu body+4. If you barely play BRD and halfass it, then...there's your answer.
By K123 2025-12-05 19:15:44
Yeah I can see how it is a boost to Mordant and Rudra's, no question there. Just wondering if it is worth making any time soon. Maybe there will be a +5 next week, waiting to see.
