Its official!

Hillary is in the clown car!

But she is going to need a LOT of greasepaint to be near as clownish as the republican inhabitants.

I think she matches them in the smoke and mirrors department.

This is going to be so interesting to watch. The feminists are going to go apesh!t the moment anyone male disagrees with her. I'm expecting every other candidate, both democrat and republican to be labeled "misogynist". About time everyone gets to see how bat sh!t crazy feminists are.

It's fascinating, to me, that despite the millions spent on campaign management and message formulating focus groups, the strongest political "hooks" I experience, in my daily life, are from hearing and reading opinions I disagree with on this message board.

Its so easy to discover what "you're against" in the absence of what "you're in favor of." I can't help but wonder if politicians themselves fall victim to this from time to time, hence the lack of concrete examples given in campaign speeches.
And thus we have the problem of a two-party system. For the most part, people aren't voting for who they want but voting against who they don't want.

Look at the past several elections: Bush Sr., versus Clinton (and Perot), after Bush, Sr., had effectively been in power for 12 years. It was practically fiat. Clinton versus Dole, not even Republicans really wanted Dole. Bush, Jr., versus Gore in 2000 comes down to a photo-finish tie as people try to decide which legacy they hate more. Bush, Jr., versus Kerry was probably the only really interesting election because the former was moving onto shaky ground with the electorate while the latter was a block of wood. Obama versus McCain was a *** joke, especially once McCain opted for Palin as a running mate and started toeing the far-right line. Obama versus Romney seemed to be less about the two men and more about the parties they were running under.

And the real punchline is that the Republican party has been hijacked by far-right lunatics who reject science and learning and most conservative values. Bush, Jr., would've been a decent centrist/conservative had Cheney and Rove not been pulling his strings. Obama is so no liberal it's insulting, but that's true of all the big name Democrats these days except Elizabeth Warren. We're stuck voting between a group of religious crazies who are literally buying and selling the country out from under us and an unending list of centrists and sycophants who are dragged further and further under the idiot bus.

If a real socialist ever got anywhere near a Presidential debate, all the red-voting folks would ***their pants in terror. We haven't had a real liberal in a long, long time, but as long as someone says the Democrats are filthy commie liberals, people will vote against them and in favor of a party that's literally selling us all upriver.

I never thought I'd long for the days of Richard Nixon, but he at least stood for reasonable values, even if he was entirely corruptible.

I do believe you just demonstrated, via ignorance, the real problem.

There most certainly are real socialists in the Democrat party, they have been there since the Frankfurt institute went into full swing with cultural Marxism and the "long march through the institutions". "Social justice" and "redistribution of equity" philosophy are pure socialism which happens to be the vast majority of the Democrat party.

Neither of those philosophies are pure socialism and neither are shared by the vast majority of the Deomcratic party, lol. "Social justice" just strives to give everyone access to the same opportunities and liberties as everyone else. That's constitutionalism. "redistribution of equity" or "wealth redistribution" are just pseudo-conservative buzzwords, they only exist in abstract. When "conservatives" are polled on the actual ideology, even they are mostly in favor of almost every tenant of equal opportunities and liberties.

Wanting socioeconomic ladders that actually have bottom rungs isn't Marxism, it's basic morality.

While walking down the street one day a US Democratic Congressman is tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," says the man.

"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity."

"Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the senator.

"I'm sorry, but we have our rules." And with that, St.Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him. Everyone is very happy and in evening dress.

They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly & nice guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator raises.

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him. "Now it's time to visit heaven."

So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing.

They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns. "Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity."

The senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell."

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. "I don't understand," stammers the senator. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, "Yesterday we were campaigning....Today you voted."

And right here is how we know it's a work of fiction. The loss of a modern day politician of any stripe isn't much of a tragedy.

The Stand with Israel Act... lol

I have a feeling he's trying to quell that problem ahead of schedule and did what Obama did in 2012, add Israel in at the last minute only to disregard it afterwards. Only Rand is trying to take care of that early on so it seems more legit.

Who knows though.

I like his argument against flip flopping though. It's not flip flopping, it's evolving his views.

it's basic morality.

You lost them. Morality is so warped for most of the right these days it's a joke. And before one of them can argue that, I'll argue it for them.

Right?

All I want is consistency. You don't want to pay welfare? Fine, but stop actively promoting more babies.

I said "most". There are admittedly some on the right who flat-out don't care about social issues as long as the money is right.

You'd be better off following up on the anti-abortion crowd being pro-death sentance for certain criminals.

Though shall not kill! you know unless stuff. I mean it is one of the ten commandments... you think you'd be against something like that considering we don't have to kill them and all.

To quote George Carlin yet again (because quite too frequently a stand-up comic got ***right more than actual serious politicians), "they want live babies so they can make dead soldiers".
