This is gonna sound newbish but I'm not entirely sure on what I need to prioritize when it comes to Haste, Store TP, Double Triple Quad Attack. I see all the sets on the first page but none have really worked for me so far, but thank you for this, I'm gonna try this out.
Basic overview: Haste is absolutely the most important, but is also for BST generally trivial. You need 26% gear haste, which you'd have to actively attempt to not get to not meet the cap in most of the gear we get.
Dual Wield you either need 11 if /NIN(Which that set above is for) or the much harder 21 if /DNC. DNC, however, offers JA haste in sambas, so it often makes do with less DW.
From here, a question of STP and multhit arise. So, STP is simple but math involved: You need to do the calculation of how much TP you generate base, then calculate how much STP you need to increase it to a breakpoint. A 5 hit build is in fact 10 hits with DW, so two swings a round, so you need to get 100 TP a hit to get to 1000 in 5 attack rounds.
Multihit is more complicated, however, you're talking about Aymur, which comes with a ton of built in MH from AM3, so generally you don't bother trying to gear for it.
short answer: you really just want Malignance gear. its the best balance of Accuracy, store tp, and defensive stats in damage reduction, evasion and magic evasion.
Any of you having any fun with Scythe?
I hate having a C- and not using any.
Is the best Scythe the ambuscade one?
Solo purpose obviously, just want to see what kind of SC i can pull with pets
Spiral hell can push some decent numbers, so that's an okay physical distortion option, that is about where it stops though, as while entropy is a grav option its fairly meh to the point id just swap to taruet instead for that niche. And yeah best you have is ambu scythe. Isn't something id go for since you're locked into /sam to get anywhere with the build and dwing will still perform better
I'm just returning after a solid absence! To jump off of the Scythe stuff, yeah, it's fun. Last year we were making darkness and pulling some good numbers on Apex mobs. But it's not the kind of thing you would bring to end-game content. Especially if you have ultimate weps.
HAVING SAID THAT! WHAT THE HECK DO I DO NOW?!
I haven't done a lot of Odyssey, so no Gleti, and I just found out that Emp +2 and +3 is out. I've been gone for more than a year.
What's the easiest way to start catching up? I'm a parent, so I'm trying to find things I can do in bursts, with very small groups or trusts.
But I was geared almost to the teeth when I left (got most Malignant, Alexander drove me nuts, and odyssey was still only a few months old).
Is there any practical use for Tri-Edge that I'm overlooking, for a BST who already has Doli and Aymur? I'm down to only a handful of non-essential Aeonics remaining and wondering what I'd turn in next. Although I like getting stuff for my BST, I just can't conceive of when I'd possibly use the thing and it's probably my very last priority Aeonic.
As far as I can tell:
- Doli (or Naegling) should still beat Tri-Edge/Mistral for physical damage in pretty much any situation.
- TE/Mistral (Fusion) doesn't have any particular SC advantage since Doli/Decimation is also Fusion.
- While I suppose TE would serve as a better elemental WS mainhand than the Ambu weapons if for whatever reason you really needed elemental damage, it would still lose to Aymur/Primal Rend (or Farsha/Cloudsplitter, and I'd imagine Aymur/Cloudsplitter is at least very competitive if for some bizarre reason lightning damage is fine but light isn't).
Right?
Edit: I guess the best possible argument I can think of might be for best Distortion option available to BST (Ruinator)? But I can't think of practical situations where that would ever be important to me, and even in that kind of super-niche use, Darkness SC is probably better (and I could go Guttler/Onslaught instead).
At this point, I would think that it looks like it might just be a STP axe and skillchain stuff that comes on aeonics. Ikegna's axe at R30 should beat that hands down now.
The biggest attraction for Triedge now is with the new Ikenga Axe augment you can hit 3k Mistral Axes pretty much every single time.
3k Mistral Axes prob still don't beat Doli Decimation spam though? Please let me know if anyone feels that isn't accurate :)
Mistral is similar to several other damage varies with TP WS, in that the fTP jump from 1000tp to 2000tp is much bigger than the jump from 2000 to 3000, so TP Bonus gives you somewhat of a diminishing return once you're going above 2000 effective TP.
Plus, it's harder in practice to actually hit just a WS right at 3000 effective TP and avoid "wasting" excess TP, whereas if you target 2000 effective TP and go over a bit from an extra attack round or whatever, that just means extra damage from TP overflow.
I'm very familiar with this on NIN, a bit of a similar situation where an offhand TP Bonus +1000 katana is good with Naegling for Savage, but ends up not being too impressive as an offhand to Aeonic katana (with another TP Bonus+500) for Blade: Ten - and Ten has a bigger fTP jump from 2000-3000 than Mistral Axe. Same thing happens with Aeonic dagger, Aeneas/Centovente is overkill on TP Bonus for Rudra's.
For pure WS spam the new hotness on BST will be Ikenga R30/K-club spamming mistral axe. Though Tri-Edge/Ikenga R30 seems interesting if the TP bonus stack with each other.

Someone needs to try this.
im working on the tri edge right now haha
Where do you guys solo ml these days?
I had a 3 months break and last i logged in i tried the colibri camp, but it wasnt worth it, way too much competion.
I saw they added bibiki and king ramperre tomb as new camps, any of these worth it for a bst solo?
Bats in kings ranperres tomb is good for bst if you have Aymur and your magic ws sets are up to date. With Acurex pet and KI up, tag them with pestilent plume and ruinator > primal rend > cloudsplitter > burst foul waters will kill them.
If you don't like fighting for an ep spot and don't mind a walk outer raz is relatively empty these days. Can do the same SC and should kill without the MB.
Quoting this cause ive decided to head to KRT even though i havent got Aymur (yes i am that bad).
I first tried 2xOnslaught and Patrice just for KI, but it was a bit (alot) slow.
So i decided to try my luck and go with Dolichenus/Decimation and fluid spread...and it works great.
And even if you aggro other bats, Patrice is a very good tank :)
I have Tri-edge and have used with offhand Fernagu before. So... 1500 TP bonus + Moonshade for 1750 TP Bonus. Granted Fernagu stats are pathetic aside from the TP Bonus.
Been a couple years probably. I was not impressed. I really found Pangu w/ offhand Fernagu MUCH better for the weapon damage compared to tp bonus difference.
Aeonic weapons almost completely boil down to the weaponskills available to use with them. Both the specific WS, in this case, Ruinator AND the other weaponskills from weapon type: Axes.
Axes actually have several weapon skills that TP Bonus is useful for: Calamity, Mistral Axe, Cloudsplitter, Primal Rend. 2 physical, 2 magical... nicely balanced.
Unfortunately... NONE of these are Ruinator. Ruinator's damage is gimp, and tp is useless for it.
So you really only get 1 things from Tri-edge:
Umbra
so if you want that extra skillchain or burst damage specifically... (the skillchain damage WON'T be extra damage because base ws is super weak) so you can get extra burst damage from Umbra... that the only reason I can think to use it, but I cannot think of when it would ever be worthwhile.
tldr: Yes, I have Tri-edge and it is NOT worth it.
I'm just barely getting a handle on things again. Which axe endgame-worthy WSs crit, again?
I'm looking at Building Flourish from /dnc.
And how is /war now, after master levels?
Edit: What's the best way to survive the AoE madness of Omen bosses and Dynamis these days? I remember that being a really big issue with endgame content. Does it get easier, after master levels?

None of them that are worthwhile, axe WS' fall into 3 categories generally
1. kaja axe/dolichenus decimation spam <- typically the go-to
2. Mistral axe 2K+ effective TP either by naturally saving that much or through TP bonus weapons/gear
3. Elemental WS' cause phys aint working for whatever reason so primal/cloudspliter
There's cases for other WS' due to scing with pets but that's how axe dmg tends to go, and when you can afford to, naegling savage blade will trump the mistral axe section.
It's still typically /nin or dnc for the DW perks, ML hasnt changed that fact, if you've saved finishing moves then sure buildings fine, but non-dnc main typically wastes more time spamming steps beyond the initial box step

Short answer is malignance, high DT/meva greatly reduces much of the aoe threat older content had, Gleti's can work too, specially on the phys side of things.
Decimation is the only one of those that can crit, right? And it's multihit? Cloudsplitter doesn't multihit, right?
I like SCing with the pet, or catching someone else's SC (career SAM) if I'm in a group. So Mistral probably won't be my favorite. I'm looking at Onslaught, too. I still want to get Augs on my Guttler. I'll play around with them and see what works.
And sorry, I worded the DT bit badly. I'm mostly concerned about pet dt. Do the Emp legs +2 do a good job of helping them survive AoEs? If I can get the ML?
Balancing TP/acc/DT with pet acc/dt was a beast a year ago. Does anyone have an endgame tp set that keeps both you and the pet alive while climbing the scoreboard? Or does ML make that pretty managable these days?
If for whatever reason you really need a crit WS on BST (such as taking down an aura, some specific Ambuscade mechanic, etc.), Tauret and Evisceration is probably your best option over anything Axe brings to the table.
If you have to use axe, uh... Rampage is the only option. Not great.
Decimation is 3 hit (plus an offhand hit if DWing), non crit.
Correct that Cloudsplitter is single hit (+ an offhand hit). Same thing for Primal Rend. With the qualification that for Aymur users, Mythic AM3 does work on WS to potentially add more hits (EDIT: Whoops, those additional hits are only for physical WS, sorry for any confusion).
i'm a guttler fanboy and love onslaught but isn't any stronger than the rest of axe ws, just very consistent
^^ Agreed. It does have really nice SC properties that are quite practical to use with a lot of other player WS, plus some good pet ones that are real nice solo (especially Tegmina Buffet and Pentapeck to do 3-step double darkness with Onslaught > pet WS > Onslaught)
