Yes the very first stop for any job at lvl 99 upon first hitting 99 or being a returning player should be getting Records of Eminence gear. That gives you the BASELINE required to do basically anything, and the gear requires like no effort to obtain(you can probably get enough sparks for your first job by setting all the 'already completed' roe quests^^)

After that your first real goal in terms of progression should be getting your AF gear and turning it into 109, and then into 119.

Thanks for advice so far.

I was going to grab an eminent scimitar with sparks. What is a good option for off-hand sword that is rather easy to obtain?

I used homestead blade till I got something better. It has decent stats, and is pretty useful in WKRs.

Rems 1-5 for reforging are very doable with sparks gear, I personally did not realize this until I upgraded my last piece of AF to 109. I was PUP myself and geared PLD and WAR to get into AAs and delve respectively as no one was willing to take a PUP into delve. I rarely see BLUs capable of running 119 events but as always one who puts enough effort into their job will see positive results.
That said if you have not unlocked Savage blade now would be the time. If you have not gotten VW clears you should work on that for Chant du Cygne. Remember there are alternatives for any acc build so aim high if you do want to run 119 events with it. Unity offers competitive options as well. I am unsure of when the post was last updated. Take advantage of the double accolade campaign while it is up. Unlock Job Points if you haven't, same moogle iirc. BLU gets a fair amount of acc on AF/relic but various delve 1/2 pieces from field NMs can be PUGed. And as always it pays to be well-informed. Nothing wrong with browsing bg-wiki just to know what is out there.

You can get bayld and spend them on equipment in the Peacekeeper's Coalition in Eastern Adoulin as well. You can get that from Reives throughout adoulin areas outside, or Skirmishes.

After you get full item level gear (sparks, bayld, etc) you can work on upgrading your artifact/relic armor, start heading into skirmish for armor (Yorcia Weald skirmish), etc. You can also do Wildskeeper Reives.

You can do SKCNMs for chapters to upgrade your artifact/relic armor, progress to Outer Ra'kaznar skirmish to upgrade your armor, start running some High Tier Battlefields, and eventually, when ready, head into Delve. That could be at any time, it just depends on your job, gear, and skill level.

Oboro is useful as well for a JSE weapon.

If you ever have quick questions, you can ask me in-game (Crevox, I'm on your server).

It may seem unconventional, but I outfitted my Xiutleato with Regen and OaT for the offhand. It already has PDT so adding Regen makes it a decent survivalist piece, while the OaT (or Acc if needed) helps it remain relevant for fighting.

T-Rex WKR drops it while Tree WKR gives the KI to add Regen. With as awesome as Idris is, there shouldn't be much issue getting WKR going. There will (at least on my server) pretty much always be someone looking to get Bayld and HP Bayld.

If you go for magic damage, clubs are good for Subduction. Once you get a skirmish Hagondes set with good MAB augments, subduction cleaving will be fun.

You can also skip healing since Sanguine Blade will top up your hp to full with Hagondes set (4k damage for average set).
