Jon Stewart to leave Daily Show
By Bloodrose 2015-02-11 09:33:36
I think Stewart's credited even some of the interns for some of the skits they did on the daily show - as some of them over the years had written them, and Jon was like "Hey bruh, this is good stuff"

Daily Show and Colbert had/have a team of 20+ writers. Both Jon and Steven are professional comedians however and long time writers of material. Even if they can't possibly make up the majority of the material, they definitely captain it and have final say and write what they can. Some of those jokes aren't even funny though. It's like they try to be funny, but are trying too hard...
But hey, if anyone wants to attribute all of the jokes to be either host's jokes, go ahead.
Well I think they did their best and no I don't think it's right to attribute all of the jokes to the host. I think they had 8 hours a day to come up with 20 minutes of jokes. Well, perhaps 15 if you include talking. 15 minutes of material isn't hard unless you care about it actually being good. I always assumed they would have about 3 hours of material and take only the best 15 minutes of it and make segments from it.
Which I don't feel the Larry Wilmore show does at all. Sometimes he doesn't even have any material. It's just him bullshitting with people around a table it's really lazy. So... Larry Wilmore is doing an even worse rendition of "Reel Time with Bill Maher"?

What ruined Comedy Central was cancelling "Win Ben Stein's Money".
It was amusing and it kept Ben Stein employed. Ever since then he's been making money by shilling as a *** creationist.

Comedy Central used to take risks on crazy cartoons. I miss that.
Sorta like Adult Swim.

Don't get me started on Cartoon Network and those idiotic non-cartoon shows they do.
They're *** awful.
Just give it another 10 years. Comedy Central and Cartoon Network will both be airing their own uber-conservative news channels.
Don't believe me?
Fox started out much like Comedy Central; an underdog station with nonsense reruns, taking a chance on some goofy shows (The Simpsons, Married with Children, etc.)
Now look where they are. Every good series that comes along they *** up or cancel it before it's barely off the ground.

I kinda grew out of South Park. Now all CC will have for me is Tosh.0, Drunk History, and Futurama reruns. Drunk History is awesome. I thought they stopped making that though. I haven't seen a new episode in forever.
That's what happens when you move to a third world country! Your misconceptions of the world aside, last I checked they were on break and haven't checked since.
Your misconceptions of jokes aside...*sigh*
Edit: See, if I Fone had said it, you'd have taken it as a joke right away, but because I said it, you went and got all defensive. Nuts to you, fake expat! Nah you're just coming off as a bitter old man today.
Damn kids and their cartoons!
One of the best Futurama episodes came out of that last run on CC.

Cartoon Network has two of the greatest cartoons right now:
Adventure Time
Regular Show
Throw in The Amazing World of Gumball if we need a trifecta but those two shows deserve to be praised for both being tuned for kids but having cross-appeal with older folk in ways our 80s products most definitely do not on repeat viewing.
Conversely, Spongebob has taken a nosedive in quality over the years. The newer episodes are very hit and miss and I feel the series should have just ended a while back but hey, the kids/execs disagree.

Well, like I said. I still like them all, though some are better than others and...well, like I said, they just lacked "something".
But the last episode was really, really good.

When don't I?

Adventure time is good, but it's gotten...weird...as time has gone on. I still watch it regularly though. Don't care for the others at all, though.

All of the good shows Cartoon Network used to make are on Boomerang now. Which was supposed to be for old classic cartoons only, so they created a 3rd network for that, lol.
It's like each generation needs its own cartoon network channel.

Broad City didn't seem too bad.
Key and Peele is good.
I haven't seen Inside Amy Schumer.
I liked Crank Yankers. Yeah. What.

What they need to do is revive Cartoon Planet/Space Ghost Coast to Coast!
It is the will of Old Kentucky Shark! (He has been there.)

Obviously a personal preference but prank phone calls never really were funny to me. They just seem...mean.

I like Amy Schumer, but I find a lot of stand up comedians I like don't always transition so well to films/shows.

Inside Amy Schumer was a wide volley of hit or miss, but generally ok.
Corner Gas was somewhat decent, better than the spin-off they did with the same cast.
Really miss Space Ghost Coast to Coast.

Corner Gas is a comedy show set in fictitious "Dog River" Saskatchewan, about a Gas jockey who takes over his dad's business, attached to a diner, which is taken over by a city girl that inherits the diner after her aunt passes away.

The Brak Show was pretty good in its own right, too. Always loved Zorak.
Aqua Teen Hunger Force was really enjoyable for a while, but it kind of soured after a time for me. Can't really put my finger on why, but.
Loved Sealab 2021 so much. Frisky Dingo I didn't get to watch as much but liked what I saw. Obviously Archer is the spiritual successor there and that's awesome.

Jon Stewart to leave Daily Show, Comedy Central says - BBC
Quote: Jon Stewart, the host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show, will step down later this year, the president of the network has confirmed.
"His comedic brilliance is second to none," said Michele Ganeless in a statement.
Stewart, who began hosting the show in 1999, will remain there until later in 2015, she said.
"He is a comic genius, generous with his time and talent, and will always be a part of the Comedy Central family."
In 2013, he took time out to direct a film, Rosewater, about an Iranian-born journalist who was imprisoned and accused of spying.
His departure comes after the network lost another major comedy figure, Stephen Colbert, who left to take over David Letterman's late night show on CBS.
LOTS of stories out there on this.
