Gov. Rick Perry indicted on felony charges

I disagree with the reason, and the government shouldn't have chemical/biological weapons either. Nor would I ever suggest using them, for either party.

Here in a Texas thread? Whiskey.
Texas beer: Lone Star tastes like horse piss. Alamo tastes like kerosine. Or was it the other way around? It has been a while.
What people forget is "the man" is keeping everyone they can down, not just "the blacks." Yes. And racism is one of their many tools.
--------
I read an article in several sources, but in Slate first, a few months back. It was on economic mobility. The states with the most economic mobility, Utah and Washington for two, have the most economic integration. The states with the least economic mobility, and Georgia was at the bottom, have the most economic segregation.
Mind you many of GA's economic slums are quite racially integrated.

Errr...Chanti, you know if you actually drank that in Texas you outed yourself as a tourist, and were probably sniggered at. Nobody drinks either of those, and the Lone Star Brewing company is owned by Anheuser-Busch. It has been for a while. Ummm...Congratulations?

Been years since I had a noteworthy bowl of chili.
Most of the stuff found up north is a culinary abomination, and their crafters should be slapped with a sturgeon.

I'm actually curious why that is. How come? Because I am a superior human being physically and intellectually. If you want to fault me for anything, fault my lack of humility. Guns give the plebeians a way to level the playing field.

Can't be that superior intellectually if you don't even know that 'plebeian' is a socioeconomic descriptor, and not a physical descriptor.

One can have superior intellect while still being ignorant. (not siding with either, just sayin')

I drank neither. I was drinking screaming purple jesuses at the time. I haven't drunk those since.

Speaking of Texas, anyone know a good chili recipe? none of that yankee bean soup ***. Had this at the state fair, this chili is the best
Quote: This chili recipe was a Grand Prize winner at the State Fair of Texas.
4 pounds rump roast, cubed into small (1/4- to 3/8-inch) pieces
1 medium onion, finely chopped
5 cloves garlic, minced
6 dried ancho peppers, seeded and stemmed
4 fresh serrano peppers, halved and seeded
2 jalapeños, halved and seeded
8 ounces (1 cup) tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
7 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons paprika
2 tablespoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon salt
2 ounces (1/4 cup) beer
Simmer ancho peppers in 3 cups water for 15 minutes. Remove anchos and reserve liquid. Scrape ancho pulp from skin with a spoon or dull knife. Mash pulp well or purée in blender.
Put meat, onion and garlic in heavy pot or dutch oven and stir, over medium heat, until meat turns gray.
Add reserved ancho pepper liquid, ancho pulp and tomato sauce. Float serranos and jalapeños on top. Simmer for one hour.
Remove the pepper pieces, and add remaining ingredients and more water, if necessary. Simmer one additional hour until meat is tender.

Again. More cynicism and pessimism.
I disagree. I think it can be fixed and driven away.
Probably not in the lifetime of anyone currently alive. But we can start taking the first steps toward that.
A truly global economy will be the start. Whether it comes on this side or the other of another major war in the world, I can't say. I'd like to say we avoid it, because we're really not far from a truly global economy as it is. I mean, you think the situations in the Ukraine or Israel would be as subdued as they are if the global economy didn't stand to suffer drastically if major players started taking shots at each other?
We'll get there. Eventually. If we don't wipe ourselves out first.

Defeatism, cynicism and pessimism? Hardly. I'm actually one of the more optimistic people you'll likely ever meet. regardless, it's not any of those, it's realism. People aren't perfect, people are self destructive. You cannot make them something that they aren't. Most people, if they don't want help, won't let you help them. This isn't pessimism, it's reality, and it's very much, HUMAN.
Only foolish people think that they can change the nature of humanity. They likely get suckered in by uplifting political catchphrases like "hope and change" as well.

This is somebody who has received a trophy for everything he ever did. Of course if you give him reality, he will automatically counter as you being a defeatist.

How much chili will Rick Perry eat in prison ?
Grand Jury indicts Rick Perry
Quote: (CNN) -- A grand jury has indicted Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a potential 2016 presidential candidate, saying he abused his power by trying to pressure a district attorney to resign.
The two felony counts against Perry, a Republican, stem from his threat to veto funding for a statewide public integrity unit run by Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg unless she stepped down, the special prosecutor in the case, Michael McCrum, said.
Perry attorney David L. Botsford called the indictment a "political abuse of the court system." He said the action "violated the separation of powers" and "sets a dangerous precedent by allowing a grand jury to punish the exercise of a lawful and constitutional authority afforded to the Texas governor."
CNN affiliate KVUE reported that Perry will have to report to the Travis County Jail in the capital of Austin to be booked, fingerprinted and have his photo made for a mugshot.
Perry can continue to serve as governor while under indictment, KVUE reported. His attorneys could seek to have the charges thrown out, a motion that would delay the case, at the very least.
The grand jury in Travis County indicted the governor on charges of coercion of a public servant and abuse of his official capacity.
I actually didn't believe the headline when I first saw it, but its on every website, even the beloved Fox News. So this is real, its not some doomed publicity stunt *looking at you and your little lawsuit Boehner*
The failed Presidential candidate and pathetic governor of Texas is facing two felony counts of abusing power and coercion. He is going to be arrested, booked, fingerprinted, and a mugshot taken. Can't wait to see that.
Apparently he thought he could use his power to pressure an attorney to resign. I'm not surprised that he would attempt something like that due to his huge ego and lack of intellect, and living in Illinois, used to seeing governors go to jail. He is facing 99 years if convicted.
