Wants:

Caturae: Stygian Cyclone. A quick way to add: silence to a target. (physical damage)
Orobon: Seaspray. Water Damage and add: slow. Less likely would be Leeching Current: water damage + hp steal.
Mantid: Mascerating Bile. Bio and all stats down.
Monoceros: Wrath of Zeus. AOE thunder damage. (UL)
Pixies: Zephyr Arrow. Ranged Damage + Bind.

Not arguing about wyverns, lol. You overlooked the part above where I said:

Quote:
I think the poster's intent was to show what monsters we did and did not get spells from. Its a full list. There is likely not anything of use from it to begin with, similar to us not getting a spell from MR's pets. He was just listing the monsters (although that particular instance does not count).

I didn't write that full list, someone else did. That particular instance is a pet wyvern (the format makes it seem like Pet, Wyvern, where it was really "Pet Wyvern"), so i wouldnt expect it to be a "monster" to learn something from. Its just like avatar, there was nothing to learn from that because its a pet. Not arguing that point, I'm saying its a full list of what monsters gave us nothing.

Screw Mascerating Bile. I want Death Prophet or Preying Posture.

Actually, Preying Posture sounds good.

hey, if not for Light of Penance having only a 1m 30s duration it would have been (and still would be, to a lesser extent) OP as ***. -100ACC blind is no joke!

At least Actinic Burst managed to pick up the slack on a quick way to blind targets right out the gate.

If we wanted to talk "useless spells", Digest seems to be up there, since it was pretty weak, took too long to cast to be useful, and recast was even worse. But again, there are people who found a way to make it work. I think. I happened to also like using Light of Penance.

I used to use Digest during Colibri solos for a quick HP restore alongside MP Drainkiss!

Jettatura has always been and still is a useful enmity spell. Though it's less useful for blu as it is for pld/blu.

Posture would end up on the UL timer for a large attack boost that would likely have crap duration. Fantod away!

MP drain by Magic Hammer was billed directly to the light magic damage it dealt, which was pretty sad.

I abused the hell out of Actinic burst and Temporal shift in dynamis back in the day. Thf would pull and I would aoe flash, then aoe stun so the blms could sleep them easier. I would also flash them again right before they woke up and then stun them after they did to keep them contained. It worked very very well for large pulls and pulls with magic users or rng/nin mobs with their annoying as hell hecatomb wave spam.

It was fun finding a useful niche to take care of in a dangerous event. /storytime

Thanks for this. I knew there was something else we used to use this for, but I did forget. It was an awesome spell. Sometimes, the little things in spells make the difference. The damage or add effect may suck, but the enmity was through the roof.

Magic Hammer was nice on Imps when Imps were a thing. Drainkiss was clearly better unless you picked fights with dark resisting targets for whatever reason.

Osmosis is also pretty cool as a drain but that's Abyssea-era stuff when BLU no longer possessed the downtime issues it did pre-Battery Charge. Draining a beneficial effect is always fun.

Auroral drape would help in those situations with the casting mobs as well, and generating blind on the melee mobs. In addition to stunning and flashing with Actinic Burst and Temporal shift.

Act Burst was an awesome "OHSHI" macro spell, right before re-applying your Blink/Utsu. Yup, still love it.

I never really got to go blu to dynamis during the alliance days.

Always got stuck going on war or thf. Had one weenie of a paladin make me tank monks because he kept dying during HF.

Auroral Drape was post-75 so I never got to use that much in Dynamis but Actinic Burst has been a workhorse spell like Magic Fruit which I couldn't give up even when Phenilune came to town.

Frenetic Rip, Heat Breath, Corrosive Ooze and Regurgitation hold speshul places in my heart. And then you have Hydro Shot/Lowing/Terror Touch which have always been "the ***?"

I always wanted Ectosmash and we got that crap instead.

I remember seeing players using Self-Destruct to magic burst, then wondering why they were 1. weakened, and 2. died when it pulled hate.

Magic Fruit was Galka BLU curative spell of choice over plenilune.

And Terror Touch did have uses. They added it to the translate dictionary, so it was a funny insert into shout jokes.

No, really, that spell sucked.

Lowing is currently a VW proc. Hydro Shot, yeah, It didn't take the enmity down properties of the sahagin version, I don't believe.

It reduced your enmity by like 5 points, which was like doing nothing when it was easy to get hate back with a single vorpal blade, and a melee spell chain

I think it was like 5% with an attack down cap, which was pretty low to begin with

It's chance of lowering enmity was also really low, and was based off of current TP, and only when used under chain affinity could you notice a difference, but it's chain affinity damage was also really low for a physical spell
