I guess the UK doesn't have anti-discrimination laws, or they do and he just doesn't know about them.

I propose an amendment to this law. All businesses who wish to use "religious freedom" must post signs on their doors and windows stating "We refuse service to the icky gays". Let the free market have its way. Republicans love that, right?

Says I'm 63% liberal. 37% conservative I blame time's liberal bias ! I got this:
Quote: You're 78% conservative, 22% liberal.
Liberal qualities
You like cats more than dogs
You think the government should treat the lives of its citizens as equal to those of other countries
You use a modern browser
You're not completely proud of your country's history
Conservative qualities
You prefer action movies to documentaries
You think kids should respect authority
You like a neat desk
You think self-control trumps self-expression
You're not wild about fusion cuisine
You don't think your partner should be looking at porn alone
You think the world benefits from nations and borders
You prefer Times Square to the Met

Quote: The fight over "religious freedom" proposals facing increasing criticism from businesses and advocates who call them a license to discriminate against gays and lesbians has shifted toward Arkansas, which was poised to become the second state this year to enact such a measure.
A final vote could come as early as Tuesday in the state House on the proposal that would prohibit state and local government from infringing on someone's religious beliefs without a "compelling" reason. Unlike Indiana — where Republicans were working on adding language to clarify the state's recently enacted law after a firestorm of protests — Arkansas lawmakers said they weren't seeking to modify the measure.
"There's not really any place to make any changes now," Republican Rep. Bob Ballinger of Hindsville said about his proposal. "If there are questions in two years we can fix it."
Hundreds of protesters filled Arkansas' Capitol to oppose the measure, holding signs that read "Discrimination is not a Christian Value" and "Discrimination is a Disease," and chanting "Shame on You" at Ballinger after the measure was endorsed by a House committee.
"I believe that many people will want to flee the state and many people will want to avoid our state," said Rita Jernigan, a protester and one of the lead plaintiffs in a federal lawsuit challenging Arkansas' gay marriage ban. "I think it will hit us hard everywhere. I feel like we're moving backwards rather than being a progressive state."
The protests echo the backlash in Indiana, where Republican Gov. Mike Pence signed a similar bill into law last week. Some companies and organizations have canceled future travel to Indiana or halted expansion plans in the state, and Republican legislative leaders said they are working on adding language to Indiana's law to make it clear that the measure does not allow discrimination against gays and lesbians.
Similar proposals have been introduced in more than a dozen states, patterned after the federal Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993. Nineteen other states have similar laws on the books.
Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson, who had expressed reservations about unintended consequences of an earlier version of the bill, has said he'll sign the current measure into law.
"If this bill reaches my desk in similar form as to what has been passed in 20 other states then I will sign it, but I am pleased that the Legislature is continuing to look at ways to assure balance and fairness in the legislation," Hutchinson said in a statement Monday.
Sexual orientation and gender identity are not included in Arkansas' anti-discrimination protections. Last month, Hutchinson allowed a measure to go into law that prevented local governments from including such protections in their anti-discrimination ordinances.
Opponents of the bill hoped to target Hutchinson's promise to be a "jobs governor" made during his successful bid last year for the state's top office. The Human Rights Campaign, the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights group, has run ads in Silicon Valley aimed at the same technology firms Hutchinson has said he wants to lure to Arkansas. I rarely praise any "journalism" that comes out of Cracked.com, but I figured this one was well-written enough and very pertinent to what goes on here that I'm going to link it.
5 Reasons You Get Tricked Into Believing Stupid Things
That's the URL title, btw. The actual title of the article became "5 Brainwashing Tricks That Work No Matter How Smart You Are" because the title guy at Cracked is an idiot. Clearly didn't read much of that, but I found a neat quiz linked on that site. Only 12 questions.

Cats don't care if you like them. Dogs seem to care. Easy choice for me.
I'd take a dog over a cat any day.

Wow I thought my scores were a little too high in the conservative area, lol.
So we got 37, 78, 86, 43, and 81 in the conservative area. I only come in 3rd so far. Not bad.

Either Americans are overly conservative and the democrats are just fooling themselves, or the survey is skewed towards the conservative end so liberals who take the test would believe that they are "moderate" and the conservatives who take the test would be more towards the extreme end.
I wouldn't be surprised either way.

I wouldn't be surprised either way. I think it's a little of all three. The older you get the more conservative you lean towards. But I could also see a moderate bias for liberals and a way to make conservatives seem extreme.

Another false narrative. 24 other states have similar laws (Obama signed one himself when he was a legislator in IL), and there's also a federal law (remember hobby lobby and abortive contraception).
Have you read the law? Can you point out where it says discrimination against gays is allowed? If you had read about the law you would know about the rather important distinction between Indiana's version and other "religious freedom" (lulz) laws. Indiana's extends legal protection to suits between private citizens. These "similar" laws pertain only to disputes with governments. So, yes, this opens the door for discrimination by regular businesses in the name of your shitty, gay-hatin' religion.
There is no text in the law that permits discrimination based on sexual orientation, only one that protects people practicing their religious freedom. So that's the defense? That the language doesn't specifically refer to LGBTs? Because that's pathetic (but expected).
Religious freedom doesn't grant a license to do whatever the *** you want under the guise of whatever *** beliefs to which people subscribe. No one is stopping Christians from believing all of us butt pirates are going to burn for eternity in our rightful place at Satan's taint. The line gets drawn at actual discrimination based on those beliefs. That isn't a right, sorries :( People have the right to refuse service bud, and refusing service to someone is to discriminate against them. Get over your bad case of the feelz and just accept that not everyone on this planet is obliged to affirm your lifestyle. Some people have the audacity to think it's wrong. They are allowed to think that and they are allowed to refuse you service because they think that. To suggest that they don't is to suggest that I could go into a Jewish bakery and insist they bake me up a Hitler cake, or to go into a Muslim butcher and insist he cut me up a pig.
Arguing that people should or shouldn't have specific thoughts in their head when they discriminate is the stupidest thing as a society we've ever rallied for.

Yet none of your examples are discrimination.
Critical thinking hasn't set in yet huh?
If the Jewish baker refused to bake me a hitler cake, he would be discriminating against me.
If the Muslim butcher refused to cut me up a pig, he would be discriminating against me.
Discrimination: the practice of unfairly treating a person or group of people differently from other people or groups of people
As in gay people discriminate against Christians by insisting that they be prohibited from freely practicing their religion.

If you went into a jewish bakery and asked them to make a swastika cake... well actually the one I go to would probably make it...
but if they refused to make it they would just say "we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"
Not "We don't serve your kind here <insert your favorite slur here>"

Demanding services they don't offer is not discrimination. It's not discrimination if McDonald refuses to lend me money. Then it isn't discrimination if you goto a person that doesn't believe in gay marriage and insist that they participate in your gay marriage.
