I'm honestly unclear of the argument you're tring to make.
The chances of people being pursued for using a comic strip in a not-for-profit fashion are infinitesimally small, and even if they did, the posts containing the imagine would be removed and that would likely be the end of the story.
He has shut down people resuming/modifying his work (as I'm sure your aware).
Aye, but nothing was modified. The point I made is that people don't copyright memes, ergo, there is not copyright infringement.

I saw that, but that situation is a bit different. But yeah, Waterson is really big on nothing being modified and his publisher decided that use fell within that category.
Frankly, the guy had an argument for "fair use", but he ceased because he wasn't really make much money on it at all and it wasn't worth the fight.
Also, he contacted them to check on the "okayness" of what he was doing.
In this instance all Verda did was repost an unedited comic. Not really a major deal at this point.

I find it interesting, that after several months, possible a year, and 400+ pages, amongst several hundreds of threads of reposted work, etc. that there is finally some *** about copyright infringement.
Considering most memes *can't* be copyright protected, as they are taken from already copyright protected works of people, films, etc., but are used under the "fair use" clause.
That said, the ones that don't fall under the above critera can, and some have been, copyright protected, but by bringing them to civil court for damages incurred, would be doing a greater disservice to their brand/image/whatever, and to the fans who love them, which is why a lot of artists and their lawyers (unless there is a blatant misuse of said image that would damage the franchise or ability to generate profits) refuse to act on it, and instead issue challenges as to who can come up with the best use of their image for satirical use.

I'll give you an A for effort but you can't claim your anger wasn't anger. It just makes you look worse.
I don't with you any harm. If anything the comment on health was because I don't want to see you or anyone else fall to heart disease. This has gotten to the point I can't believe I'm replying so I'll just let you guys have your fun.
