We can have a small group of humans who live outside the giant hamster wheel power plants though.
The town will be located in Antarctica.
Name it Derpion.
Their leader shall be Rob Ford.
No more than a 100 of them to establish this last remaining human town.
And of course their religion shall me Mormonism.

So was it all that necessary to launch a semantic-based tirade against my statement in the first place? Also, name-calling is super classy. I didn't know you PC folks used "retard" nowadays. I'm not very PC, if you hadn't noticed.

I don't believe I've seen the word "Morman" and "Intellectual" in the same paragraph ever. Granted, "Intellectual" was part of the compound word "Intellectual Property" but it was still a pretty huge dissonance.
I know you're trolling, but Mormons did invent, among other things, the T.V. and Pong. Gamers shouldn't hate on them too hard.
Good god I think I actually learnt something from a thread on FFXIAH!!!!!!!!
WIki'd because I couldn't believe it....

They're going to invent some new material for TV? Because that's the only way it can be made better, most of it is complete dribble, or stolen from books, altered and made rather ***.

Look at the example of Philo Farnsworth (which is very heavily referenced in Futurama)
He invented something that revolutionized television, which was considered decades ahead of his time.

I don't "Hate" The Mormon people, I hate the Mormon religion with the fury of ten thousand suns. That's the same stance I have will all religions, or more specifically all theistic beliefs.
I do not respect the Mormon people though. To subscribe to the most transparent con in history means we can't possibly be on the same level. That said, I'm not oblivious to the fact that a good chunk of Mormons only put up with the religion because it'd be social suicide to go against the church. Group Solidarity and all that jazz.
I'm guessing three or four more posts till militant atheism.
Followed by "Yea I'm an Atheist I don't care about other religions just Christianity"
At the basest level, we're all just flawed human beings. But what does a human being have left to differentiate themselves if not rational thought? The ability to take a few minutes to stop and say "Wait, this ***doesn't add up" is a huge part of what makes people the most complex organism on the planet.

Emma Smith didn't burn the manuscript for the Book of Mormon and the book never mentions polygamy, so I'm not sure what that meme is for. But hey, hating on things you don't understand is okay if it's a religion. Bigotry only applies to racism and homophobia, amirite?

Technically yes. Religion is a choice. You make a conscious decision to believe nonsense. I don't have to respect their delusions. But hey, calling someone a racist or a bigot is a sure fire way to win an argument when you don't have the mental capacity do differentiate between the characteristics of race, sexuality and religion. amirite?

Oh please. If I said I didn't "respect" black people or gays you would be the first on here calling me a bigot. I'd say you might be blurring the lines a bit with your ill regard for a group of people that you clearly don't understand.

I thought I made it abundantly clear I didn't respect them for a choice, not because of their birth, with the additional caveat that I am sympathetic to those who enlist because of social pressures.
Obviously I've thought a lot more about this than you. I never claimed to understand Mormonism by the way, I think even if I had all my facts straight I still wouldn't understand it because Mormonism (Most religions actually) requires you to divorce your mind from rational thought. Either selectively or entirely.
But keep trying to use the liberal arsenal of "Omg bigot, rally to my cause!!!" You might actually succeed eventually by saturation.

Quite frankly I don't care what your opinion is on Mormons or any other grouping of people. I do get annoyed by the bigotry double standard, but I've come to expect it. Mostly I get bothered by the fact that any time someone brings up Mormons it's almost always tacked on with a statement of fact about their religion that is absolutely false, such as with your meme. You'll rarely see me argue against a fact-based opinion.

Well, that makes sense, and you're rightly aggressive toward the falseness of the meme.
To be honest, I didn't really think that much of it because I have no particular hatred of polygamy itself, outside of when polygamy is used as a means of subjugation towards women.
I'll delete it if it bugs you that much, because like I just said, it didn't even dawn on me to consider polygamy as an inherently negative thing. I saw it as an expression of the artificial and reactionary nature of the religion, which becomes apparent since the events of Joseph Smith's life are in historical record. (Falseness of the polygamy ***notwithstanding)

Thanks, but I would never encourage someone to delete something on a post. I'm not a moderator. As far as polygamy is concerned, I agree with you. There's no disputing that the Mormons practiced it in the 1800s. I just know that the way that it came about had nothing to do with what was being portrayed. But whatever, as I've helped derail this thread enough, I guess I'll actually look more at the OP topic and see if I have an opinion on that. As of now it doesn't make any sense to me why there would be a lawsuit.

Quote: A dating site that tries to connect Mormon singles with one another has encountered legal resistance from a surprising source: the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
The business arm of the Mormon church has filed a lawsuit to prevent the dating site from using the name Mormon Match. The church is attempting to assert its trademark over the name, but the Electronic Frontier Foundation has recently jumped in to defend the website's founder, insisting that the church is being inordinately aggressive in its intellectual property claims.
The case began last month when Intellectual Reserve Inc., the LDS church's holding company, filed suit in the federal district court of Southern Texas against Mormon Match's founder Jonathan Eller. Utah-based Intellectual Reserve claims trademarks on several terms related to the church, including "Mormon," "Book of Mormon," "Mormon.org," "Mormon Tabernacle Choir," and "The Mormon Church" among others.
But in an amicus brief filed with the court, the EFF argues that "Mormon" is simply too broad a term to be claimed this way. Attorneys for the digital civil liberties group, say it would be like Taco Bell suing Taco Cabana over the rights to the word "taco."
"Cases such as this one, where the affirmative defense of fair use is so clear from the outset, can and should be dismissed at the earliest possible stage of litigation," the EFF's lawyers wrote, urging the judge to throw out the case before allowing more time and money to be spent on further court proceedings.
The EFF said Eller's use of Mormon is a textbook example of fair-usage.
"The name of this service simply describes what it's doing – matching up Mormons," said Corynne McSherry, EFF's intellectual property director, in a written statement. "Trademarks are supposed to be used to protect from unfair competition, not to stifle a small business or to control language."
Eller, whose site is still in a pre-registration mode and still hasn't officially launched, has filed a countersuit of his own against Intellectual Reserve. The next hearing in this case is scheduled for Aug. 8.
