We just burned down their house and slashed the tires on their car because we don't like what they think. Destroying a career is far worse than hitting them and equally irrational behavior. I have to agree, and disagree with this to a point.
Destroying someone's livelihood can cause a great deal of harm to them emotionally, so much so, that the depression that sinks in, can cause indirect physical harm. Or if the situation is severe enough, lead to their suicide.
However, at the same time, making one's beliefs public, that tend to clash with the business owner's or the over-all company's policy/morals, that also conflicts with sales, and customer perception, they end up destroying their own career by trying to justify it, and in some cases, acting on it.

And that it was stupidly hypocritical.
Also, "don't care" is also hypocritical to a religion that claims it cares.
You may be right about "there's only so much turn the other cheek" that one can do, yet the LGBT community can't so much as push back against religious tyranny even a little without being called fascist. You can't cut that much hypocrisy with a *** chainsaw made of adamantium.

Let's lay down some more facts.
In just about every religion, and religious person I've come across, they've accept that loving someone deeply, regardless of sex, is between those people, and whichever Deity they pray to. It's emotional and spiritual, and can love one another forever.
They just aren't allowed to get married.
Even though by a traditional sense, even in the earliest days of the bible, and of the religion, Holy Union was between two people.
Now, in modern times, after various updates, omissions, and varied interpretations, sects, and subsects of religion, it's ok to be hateful towards a new target, to do everything in your power to ban them from even existing.
So what does the LGBT community do? they push back for EQUAL rights have an EQUAL right to be married, for an EQUAL right to be represented in sports, on television, etc.
But in the mindset of the average (re: moderate to extreme) Christian and Catholic, it's a sin to even exist while being gay. It's been judged to be morally wrong be gay, even though it's the way God made you.
Hell, there was a time when people considered it a sin, an abomination to be UGLY and/or DISFIGURED, and that it was ok to beat those people with stones, throw food at them, and otherwise ostracize them into isolation.
You know, the only thing I haven't seen from real, devout, practicing, even lip-service Christians and Catholics, is the forgiveness they preach, unless it's for themselves.
Why? Because according to the ingrained doctrine, it's still accepted as heresy to believe in another Deity, or not to believe in the "conquering/reigning religion's" Deity.

Some may think that way, but Satan's power, even according to the bible, is negative influence over time.
It's already been widely accepted by the top brass in Christian religion that we are, for all intended purposes, made and wired according to his will. So if that's the truth, then those people are wired to believe such a thing, even when they know it to be false.

Oh no, I'm not hanging myself with it, you just -THINK- it's ok to talk down to others because they think differently. Am I wrong? Wait, Christian, Christian....
Wasn't there something about turning the other cheek? Something like Quote: But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.
Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
Hmm, that must have been the non-Christian Jesus.
Way to keep the faith1
Edit: I may have misattributed the verse/quote, I'm certainly no bible scholar. I'll let those who are more familiar correct it.

I wish someone would go through this entire thread and replace "Christian" with "Gay" and "Gay" with "Christian" then see how these very same comments would be tolerated.

Do try and reconcile the terms, but they're more different than they are the same, both in type and historical context. The fact that one is a choice and the other is not is a clear enough difference.

Not one FACT in this entire post, just a bunch of anecdotal evidence. My very point is ... Imagine if someone came in and posted their anecdotal evidence about the LGBT community. It would be deemed offensive and deleted while religion bashing goes unchecked.

It's not some posited *** anecdote, when it's ALL TRUE by virtue of HISTORY.
Edit: That's all that really happens - people post anecdotal evidence as to why they believe the LGBT community is unnatural, is sinful, deserve to be hated and rallied against. There has been virtually no legitimate reason to deny the LGBT community EQUAL RIGHTS to proper representation.
Everything is founded in hatred, indoctrination, and other complete *** that ordinarily, and for decades, if not centuries, has gone unchecked.

So believing in another deity as a christian is not heresy?

Much like everything else, it is the sqeaky wheel that gets the grease. The loud faux news crowd gets the spotlight, and throws the rest of the community under the bus. Most Christians I know don't care what gay people do. They personally hold their beliefs, but don't really seem to deem it necessary to force that belief on others.

Pointing out the hypocrisy of religion, and it's followers, does not bash on religion, or it's followers.
People forget that they are allowed to question their religion, and it's religious leaders. After all, each religion is supposed to be a place of answers that can't be found elsewhere. As long as you're willing to ask questions.
Then again... if you know anything about the story of Adam and Eve, God forbade them from eating the apple, which represented knowledge, while the snake represented temptation. Yet so many confuse the allegory as the snake representing the Devil, and the apple as Temptation.

It amazes me how so many who identify as being in one of the protestant sects, deny a historical fact that organized religions have manipulated the scriptures for personal gains and control of the masses.

Quote: HGTV is popular with the gays, so more than a few were scratching their heads when the cable channel announced a pilot featuring two brothers, one of whom—David Benham—has distinctly anti-gay views, as Right Wing Watch reported:
Later, Benham told Mefferd that America’s Christian majority must repent for tolerating abortion rights, no-fault divorce, legal pornography, “homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation” and the “demonic ideologies” that he says have taken over the education system.
After a backlash on the brothers' Facebook page, HGTV cancelled Flip It Forward, which prompted its own backlash with Fox star Megyn Kelly agreeing with Family Research Counil head Tony Perkins that unlike gay people (!), the rights of Christians aren't as "protected and recognized in this country.” On Thursday, CNN’s Reliable Sources host Brian Stelter suggested this could be a thing and that Americans might perceive HGTV’s decision as a sign of intolerance toward intolerance.
“There is a risk, though, I think, of matching perceived intolerance with more intolerance,” Stelter said. “If you are someone at home who’s looking at this thinking, why are they taking away these brothers' TV show simply because of what they believe in the personal life, the answer—part of the answer to that—is diversity in the media.”
Luckily, NPR media critic Eric Deggans jumped in before the nodding CNN host closed out the segment. He disagreed with Stelter, saying that if the prospective hosts had expressed the same views about African-Americans instead of gays they wouldn’t even be having the discussion, nor would the brothers be able to find another network employer.
- See more at: http://www.frontiersla.com/frontiers-blog/2014/05/09/cnn-media-host-thinks-hgtv-scrapping-anti-gays-risks-matching-intolerance-with-more-intolerance#sthash.ekFzQwFR.dpuf
People should be entitled to their views, regardless of how ignorant they may be. It is when they take action in which it physically harms someone or inhibits their civil liberties that there should be consequences. This is very far from the actions of WBC. I would have liked to see such media coverage of WBC from LGBT non-profs and media outlets...just saying. People need to remember freedom of speech is a two way street, and if you are unwilling to protect that liberty for the ignorant and bigoted then freedom of speech as a concept is nothing but a sham.
