March 2014 Version Update Changes

Judging from the ex tag, its new Delve gear from Forri-Porri, that can be augmented to rank15, im assuming with Airlixirs still (unless there is something else in the Dats).

I was curious if there's going to be a new currency other than Plasm.

I'm kind of glad. I know some people were strangely excited about the prospect of returning to meripo style exp grinding, but I'd just as soon let that style stay dead. I'll get the ones that are useful (more Blue Magic points and longer Phantom Rolls are definitely nice) and not have to stress out about capping all JPs right away, spend points on the other more mediocre stuff as I naturally get exp/JP.

I'm sincerely dissapointed with the Job Points update. I was expecting much, much more. Ah well...

So I know that Ovjang and Mnejing are in the dats, but are they obtainable yet? I want my 3 automaton party.

One of my main complaints about this game, despite my job levels, is having to switch to a different job than the one you want to get ***for.

JP may not have been a perfect idea but it was nice to think that there'd be a reason to play jobs that aren't in-demand for events.

I was actually excited for this so I'm just bummed that it sucks so completely.

Does the NPC in Port Jeuno say what the upgrade items are for the relic body and legs?

Looks like the cipher is for next logging points in April? At least SMN, BST, BLU, and RDM got some pretty decent Job Points :) Too bad the jobs that matter get shafted once again... Though the rate you are getting it is just plain terrible... An obvious attempt to stale content progression and maybe a big payback for those who speed level in Abusea hah hah hah!! Which in this case, you may as well speed level and skill ups later while accumulating job points, it's a win win.

Well the thought process on that was that fact that most Delve groups are spamming Tojil for plasm. So in theory, once you get the semi-pure and pure KI's from the new Delve zones, you can just farm Tojil for plasm if the new bosses are lame.

Toejam spam, in theory, will never die.

Unless one of the new guys is easier.

But yes, it'd be right up SE's alley to create a new currency.

I'm rather pleased with the THF JA, WHM SP1 and BLM SP1 ones. RDM is ok, BRD is a cruel joke.

Well, most of the jobs that aren't in-demand for events are actually pretty good solo jobs. And JP appear to be obtained more easily solo. So jobs like PUP, BST, DNC, BLU, SMN, RUN, THF, RDM, NIN don't get invited to tons of event stuff, but actually have a fairly easy time just farming their own JP solo without needing a party.

It's really going to be the typically always in demand party jobs like WHM BRD COR who are going to benefit a lot more from teaming up to farm JP. And trust tanks/DDs are a lot less useful than trust healers, so it's easier for the DD that can't get a party to go get exp themselves with a trust healer than it would be for a WHM to rely on trusts to help them solo.

So my initial reaction is that the system the way it's designed doesn't seem to particularly encourage people to party with jobs they don't normally invite/use in parties. (not that it couldn't have been designed to better encourage people to team up with atypical "party" jobs, which may be part of your point)
