Quote: Pots were also smashed during altercation
Quote: Few could doubt the power of the Master Sword, not only has it defeated countless incarnations of Ganondorf in the Legend of Zelda series, but now it has hospitalised a Texan.
A man was stabbed with the point of a replica of the legendary sword during a domestic dispute in the city of Katy.
Eugene Thompson told police how his girlfriend called her ex-husband for help after they got into an argument, with Thompson drawing the sword as a means of defence.
"And I pulled it out and I stood in the doorway and he was just coming down that hall at me while I was yelling ‘Go away, you don’t live here,'" Thompson said.
"And he just walked right into the point. I don’t know if he thought it was a toy. The man declined to mention whether he collected any rupees following the incident.
The ex-husband was taken to hospital following the altercation, but not before he, in true Zelda fashion, smashed a pot (a flower pot, over the head of Thompson).
Police have yet to confirm whether or not charges will be filed."

And, they say video games don't teach us anything. :P
See, wielding a Master Sword and using pots may come in handy some day.

...all I took away from this is that I need to find someone to forge me a high-carbon replica Master Sword.

Wait, I'm confused. The girlfriend called her ex-husband after getting into an argument with her current boyfriend? How bad was the argument? If it was serious/violent enough that she needed outside assistance, would one not call the police first? Also, boyfriend's statement is HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE. Anybody with half a brain knows the difference between stainless steel and plastic at a glance. Ex probably figured the boyfriend would back down and drop the blade. Whoops.
I should also point out I did not read the article, as anything originating in the south has a tendency to give me headaches. Except Florida, in which we go for aneurisms.

Oh I'm sure it'll happen. If it'd been anything besides a replica of a video game weapon I doubt anybody'd think twice about it. But dem vidja gaymes make people violent.

The dimensions seem to be right, remember Link is a young adult. Nice replica, hope he remembers to clean the blood off properly.

You're on a video game forum site, grow up. My comment was meant to point out the differences in priorities between someone who plays games vs. someone who would have no idea what the Master Sword is at all. I actually found his comment quite amusing. I'm well aware that text doesn't translate emotions very well, but the fact that your first reaction is to tell me to grow up indicates that maybe you're the one who needs to do some growing.

Not to mention the stereotyping, and all around bad presentation of the way you worded that statement.

I consider myself a nerd and see nothing derogatory about it. Some people might, sure, but not everyone. As for the wording, I won't argue it could've been phrased a little different, but I will refer to my previous comment about text's inability to translate emotion very well. In a verbal conversation, with the ability to adjust one's tone, I'd be willing to bet that nobody would've taken it as a negative remark.
But getting back on topic, the boyfriend claims he was standing in the doorway with the sword and the ex impaled himself upon the tip. Am I the only one who feels that part of this fight is missing? Did the ex get stabbed before or after hitting the guy with the pot? Because if I somehow found myself stuck on the end of a blade like that, I'm pretty sure my first thought would not be "Oh crap, better smash something upside this guy's head."

I have to agree with jetackuu.
We have no physical or emotional connection to the person stabbed.
Laughter is a natural reaction to death / Stressful situations.
Is he making the person feel any worse? No.
Is he sending them nasty, personal hatred filled messages? No.
Are you? Yes.
Moral High ground eludes you sir.
The main point is that something REALLY serious happened in an incredibly funny way. IE my brother breaks his leg falling off a chair, is it bad he hurt himself? Yes, but that does nothing to detract from the fact its funny, that's why people laugh when clowns throw pie's at people, I mean have you not like watched comedy, ever?
IT'S ABOUT TAKING EVERY DAY LIFE, MAKING FUN OUT OF IT. This happened, we took, made it funny to reduce the dramatic impact.
If you want to hold hands and have a drama over it, I suggest finding those "blamevideogamemoms" people and leave the rest of us in our pits of depravity and relative Nerdness.
I am a Nerd, and I didn't laugh immediately, i laughed the following day.

You think a tried and tested sword is worthless?
I don't know, "hey I took it out of the wrapper" and then stabbed my arch nemesis, is very akin to the Zelda story line.....

Stabbed? No. Stupidly walked into a sword made of sturdy enough material to penetrate human skin, Yes. Obviously this guy has never played, seen the game Zelda, nor practiced common sense, or he might not have suffered such a wound. Well played sir Thompson, well played!

What are you talking about and what point are you trying to make...
Ariyon made a jest about someone commenting about the sword rather than the incident. In no way is he hurting anyone or anything in anyway by making such a comment.
It was easy to see that his comment was made in a light humorous way~

I just noticed that the article fails to mention the ex-husband's name. Part of me hopes that it's Ganon or some variation of the name just for added irony.
