I have immediate family living in Russia, and can trace my and my wife's lineage to Rus. I know a little about it... The aristocracy of that period were nothing like the American wealthy, you clearly have no understanding of Russian history but care to preach as though you were the informed party. The Romanov era aristocracy practiced serfdom in the vein of medieval lords. America's wealthy are simply the people with the money, and still have nothing in common with the Jews of Europe.

It wasn't even the miltary/police wiping out the wealthy. It was mobs of ordinary people doing it because it was perfectly acceptable to destroy the wealthy and take their property in the name of the people.

It boils down to priorities. You either have the motivation to improve your situation, or you don't. If you're preoccupied dishing out excuses and complaining about how life isn't fair, then clearly you lack the will to do something about it.

No, my wife grew up in Russia, I have Russian heritage, and I do know a lot about the revolution. You're drawing parallels that don't exist simply to bolster your incomprehensible love of wealthy Americans. What happened to the Russian aristocracy has nothing in common with a newspaper in SF writing distasteful things about rich people.

In every part of history when the divide between economic classes grew too big either the rich made the poor the equivalent of slaves or the poor killed them and took their stuff.
As long that division keeps repeating itself then such incidents will keep happening.

I am not sure what incompetence you're referring to. It's really irrelevant. I have no hatred for the wealthy, I make a good living and rarely go wanting. I look at the situation objectively as I have no reason to dislike either the wealthy or the poor.

Not everything is as black and white as your twisted views demand they be.

In this black or white world we've conjured all up in hurr, I should be looking to this man as a symbol of 'success' because the only measure of success is how much money you make.

Your issue and that of most progressives is that you assume everyone that is wealthy screwed people like Madoff did or they just got really lucky. See, if a wealthy guy steals from everyone, it makes it in the news. If it is true that the wealthy always steal from the working poor, then they would have nonstop coverage of various wealthy people.

Instead, those like Madoff and Stewart are rare. You would only hear about 2-3 of these people every decade.

But the so-called working "poor?" Thousands commit crime on a daily basis.

You realize when you have enough money you can buy your way out of punishment right? Unless you're a Stanford or Madoff where your *** is so huge you cannot be let go. Might be why you hear about very few financial crimes and those crimes that we do hear about get settled with greenbacks. Fund terrorists and drug cartels? Being rich comes with certain powers. One of those involve being able to screw the rules. It is what it is.

Very wealthy people (not just rich) don't have to steal because in most cases they cooperate with the government they are situated in. Hence yes the wealthy as an entity do have non stop coverage of other wealthy or influential people. And also they use actual successful people to hide behind them.
In general when you can set the rules you can't really steal.

He opened his argument with a comparison to Nazi Germany. I don't need to be a multi-millionaire to know this can lead to nothing but hyperbole. There is still plenty of worship towards the rich going on right now, the people haven't planned mass executions and many corporations (when you don't use the word corporations) are seen as favorable in America.

This was the comparison between the two. He went on about various propaganda the media (mostly) has made against the successful. He did not state that the wealthy are suffering against the onslaught of an ignorant populace. He pointed out that the start of the Holocaust was created by a propaganda machine that focused all of it's attention against a group of people because they were different.

He is pointing out that we are about to make the same mistakes as the early-mid 1930 Germans did. The hatred of a group of people different from the masses. The only difference between the two is that we can notice it beforehand.

Instead, several posters, you included, have not only missed his point completely, but twisted his point to argue against something he did not say, furthering proving his point.

You created your own hate. You are jealous of his own success and are showing it by furthering your own hatred of his success.
