Like what? I play SAM all the time and the only fight where I take off Ryou is Mboze v25 KI1.

Also for those rare fights we have Mpaca, Kenda and if need Nyame B.

Path A hands are pretty sweet for SAM. Emp hands carry WSs in most every situation and there isn’t completion near Ryou Feet’s level.

Nyame is a clear winner but at a huge expense of losing Path B. SAMs damage is +/- 95% WS and 5% TP. Emp feet are BiS for WS when you are using the PDL. Hybrids get more complicated depending on mob lvl and elemental resist.

I personally think feet are a stretch but Nyame hands path A could be Worth doing.

I'm a bit confused...Mpaca has:
8 more MDB, 16 more meva, 6 PDT over Ryou

Do you think these stats are necessary to survive endgame encounters? Which ones, and why?

What are the battles where DPS does nothing on SAM?

Kasugax3 is 35 DT, Mpaca's gloves puts you at 43, so you're either at 48 with a DT cape (if you want breath DT) or 50% with a PDT cape. So the PDT is (probably) worth 0% on Mpaca's boots. Is 16 meva worth it...? Are you stacking MDB to stay alive through TP moves?

Do you also use Vanir Battery instead of Aurgelmir Orb?

Come to think of it, Adamantite body is probably a very solid swap if you're looking to increase defensive stats while DPS does nothing.

But a solid point on the Relic +4 Feet.

Af+4 for Acc / Low Haste
Relic +4 for MEVA

TA +4 is better but not by a huge amount iirc but i think STP is valued a bit more on zanhasso hits

I think of Sams that refuse to take off the stinky Ryuo boots the same as the Wars that refuse to take off that damn Odin body while having access to both Sakpata and Empy body.

Maybe go play Whm for some of those Sams and Wars and see how fun that is. (I also play whm).


To make it absolutely clear.

The content that makes me go Gee I wish I had on some of those Ryuo boots does not exist.

While you have a point Dodik, Mpaca boots are imo a bad choice, especially with mpaca hands. The meva drop is pretty bad. I would rather use Kendatsuba +1 for both or Kendatsuba+1 hands and Relic feet+4 and PDT cape for 45% pdt total and much higher meva.

I stopped by to see...if people are using SAM in Apollyon/Temenos, what sub are they using? Assume solo play with trusts. I've been trying multiple jobs, and I'm about to try SAM. I don't feel like using Yoichi to pull because it takes my ammo slot. So I'm considering /DRK for the raw damage and spell pulling, /WAR for double attack and voke, and DRG for the WSD, but /DRG has no native pulling capability.

Every job can get away with 1 glass piece(within reason, no argosy/lustratio/thaumas coat pls), 2 starts getting risky. For SAM that's gonna be ryuo boots, though fair point on relic boots+4 as a lower DPS/higher meva alternative

Apollyon you can sub whatever because the floor plan you can Solid Snake your way to the porter. Temenos is absolutely disgusting and nobody should bother soloing that garbage layout; just send a few shouts and set up a group for it. Goes way faster and bard is the undisputed MVP via lullaby all the excess adds.

Idk how they made the two zones so opposite in terms of difficulty. Takes me around an hour to solo Apollyon on 130 as DRK and one stack of oils/powders, sometimes none. Takes no less than 3 stacks of oils and over 2 hours of soloing the same difficulty level with the same job in Temenos. Just gross.

Some of this got lost in translation since the Original poster edited his post saying that Ryou+1 are poop.

They are NOT poop and offer a unique stat found on no other gear.

They can be used in 99.9% of content at the moment.

Limbus yes
Sortie yes
Seg Farming yes
CoD yes
Everything before that, yes

Gaol v0-20 yes, with some consideration at v20 with fetters out.

Gaol v25, NO but SAM has incredibly limited use as a job.

Relic+4 feet are a great consideration for Hybrids as is Kenda.

After reading all the comments I am of the belief that Nyame A feet are not worth the loss of Nyame B feet.

Nyame A hands are worth a hard look depending on your other jobs.

While that is true for meva, I stopped using kenda a while back because I prefer something with much higher def these days, and kenda is not it.

Relic+4 feet over mpaca feet is worth a look for sure.

My "high meva" set uses nyame B hands and feet. It doesn't get much use.

Completely disagree and play SAM in all those events at a very high level. Would need Yaeg for Gartell but that’s standard practice in a melee run.
