Say Adios to your Warp Cudgels, this is the year 2014, FFXI has aged!
Say hello to the all new Home Point warping! Follow the simple instructions and you'll never have to buy one of these pesky things again. On my server (Ragnarok) Warp Cudgels go for about 40-50,000 Gil. One of these waystones will cost you no more than 15,000 Gil depending on your fame.

You will need a 'silver earring' + a 'waystone' obtained from any other the 3 following NPC:

NPC Name - Zone
Pirvidiauce - Northern San d'Oria- (D-8)
Wije Tiren - Windurst Woods- (I-8)
Boytz - Bastok Mines- (H-7)

The waystones will cost no more than 11,000 Gil and these NPC's are the ONLY way to obtain them.
Now, the silver earring you can get from any of the following NPC (Of course you can always refer to your local Auction House, though it may cost a bit more) for no more than 2,000 Gil:

NPC Name -Zone
Adelflete - Lower Jeuno- (H-9/10)
Matoaka - Lower Jeuno- (H-9/10)
Morefie - Lower Jeuno- (H-9/10)

Synergy. If you weren't scared by that word by now than you're going to be totally fine. If you were scared by that word, you're still going to be totally fine. This synergy synthesis says 'Initiate' level, but the cool thing about synergy, unlike crafting, you can be any level and still attempt the craft. Of course it will be easier the higher the level you are, but you can successfully complete this item via Synergy AT Lv.0 SYNERGY.(Unless of course you can find a friendly Synergist to do it free, or for a small fee.)

Throw the silver earring and the waystone of your choice into the synergy crucible and off you go. Assuming you have 0 skill level in SYNERGY, you are going to spam the required element until it comes to (+/-4) of the total needed. You will likely explode in this attempt at least once, but do not be discouraged. It may take a couple attempts but it is definitely possible.

Last but not least, your brand new Earring! Congratulations, you earned it! You should have saved about 20K~ depending on your servers cudgel prices.

Warp cudgel
Lv.36
All Jobs
40-50,000 Gil

Kingdom, Federation, Republic Earring
Lv.20
All Jobs
About 12-15K Each.

Warp Cudgel and the Three earrings all have a recast of ONE HOUR and 30 Charges. You can purchase multiple cudgels for 40-50K Each, or spend about 40K purchasing and making every earring, giving you 3 warps every hour instead of 1. You can also wear these earrings 16 levels earlier than Warp Cudgel.

Use your earring, it'll take you to the desired Home Point. If that's your desired location, then you're Home, if not, simply click the home point. Once you have clicked the home point you can now select your desired home point location via the menu. Voila, you have officially learned some slight convenience and saved some gil. Repeat as needed! Thank you and You're welcome!

You're right sly, but human tendency is to take the easy way so. Don't think people will toss there warp crudgel's.

I carry one just in case but usually I just use earrings, even prior to the Home Point warping. I imagined that it probably wouldn't apply to half the people reading it but if it helps at least 1 person than it was worth the 15 minutes it might have taken to write it.

I remember when I played I was trying to level Synergy not just for those earrings, but for the Norg/Jeuno/other ones as well.

It seems stupid to post, but for new players, knowing there is an easier/cheaper way to get around helps immensely.

I think he's trying to help keep people around instead of "this sucks, I'mma go play something else instead".

Gotta get your 13 dollars worth.

I carry instant warp scrolls and set HP near a Signet NPC for easy reacquiring. Otherwise I'll do the above if I happen to somehow forget.

New players don't have very many resources, and yes, you're right. Thank you for understanding.

Not going to criticize you for putting this info out there because it can be helpful to some people who don't already know about these earrings. However, if people are going to use this as a replacement for warping and the beginner cities aren't their destination, then you also have to factor in the cost to use the new HPs. As far as I know, they're all 500-1k each to use, so multiplying that by the 30 charges, that's another 15-30k per earring if they need to also use the HP, so in that case, they're really not saving too much gil. Also you have to consider the time to gather the items and the extra downloading time after using the HP.

Personally, I think I have a cudgel, an instant scroll, like 2 of the city necklaces, and like 5 of the earrings (I probably should get rid of some of the stuff since it's a huge waste of space), so I'm definitely not trying to dissuade people from using the earrings, but it might not be as big of a savings as they were hoping for. One other thing I wanted to add is that addition to the 3 beginner city earrings, there are also earrings for Jeuno, Nashmau, WG, Kazham, Rabao, Norg, Selbina, and Mhaura, so you're not stuck with just the beginner city earrings, if the earring route is the way someone wants to go instead of using warp items/spell or death warps.

Its a great post, just his willingness to help is enough to make me appraise this post. It was well explained, and people will have an option to choose whats best for them.

Merits should be given to op as most of info isnt fast given by the game, and just available if you dig inside old wikia. Lots of trick, its nice someone saying them.

Whats the best isnt one or other alternative. The real best is to have all options available for us to use.

I keep one cudgel on each char for procing/back up warp. Otherwise I just keep an instant warp scroll cause personally I freaking hate putting on enchanted items and waiting 30 secs. Usually when I forget a warp, I either off myself or tele.

@KingofBastok

You're right, I actually didn't even think of that as a factor at all. I'll definitely have to check that out. Also does anyone know if anything like fame affects the price of using Home Point warps?

I tend to always be BLM if I'm not going out somewhere to fight something. Or where I would get aggro even at 99 frinstance.

And like someone else said, I've not carried Warp Cudgels in years.
I even have a level 100 Woodworking mule, and Woodworking at 70 on myself so could make them all day if I wanted anyway. (Yes I have a level 100 Alchemist mule too)
I wouldn't waste the time personally.

Now that the Home Points have appeared for getting around purposes I'm just using up all my warp earrings and not making any more.

And yes all the first few town ones are easy enough on a level 0 Synergy character.
Took me a few goes at most on loads of my mules to make Sandoria, Bastok, Windy, Selbina and Mhaura ones.
After that they get a bit harder.

I'm surprised no one has pointed out that this costs several slots of inventory.

Not that I'm one to talk. I kept virtually every teleport item I own in my Mog Sack, up to and including the beachwear to get to Purgonurgo Isle.

The point of my post is to save money and replace Warp Cudgel's so if you already have the space taken up then worrying about inventory won't be anymore of an issue than it was before.
