No characters, just shadows. Both in game and on the select character screen.
I ran the file check (which said no problem) and rebooted. No change.

I found the problem.
It seems my laptop can't find my Nvida chip so I am running on the 4000. The problem now becomes how do I convince the machine it really has a dedicated vid chip? After spending an hour on the phone and in a remote assist session with a Dell tech it seems that my NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M may have died. My warrantee died on Dec. 21, 2013....
