Speed a factor in Paul Walker's death

And the driver, his partner and friend, was a race car driver. Who darn well should have known better.

I raced a bit in my wonderfully mispent youth and one of the first things you find out is the track is a FAR safer place than the streets.

As someone who has done professional racing and currently does amateur events, I can say that not only are there much more comprehensive safety measures on off-road areas, but traction and surfaces are far more predictable. I can also say, as someone who has hundreds of hours on track and hundreds of hours of training, that virtually nobody has the skills they think they do. Especially with regards to purpose-built cars like that.

Going out into a public place, namely where the wreck was, is kinda asking for a million cameras. Celebrities get cameras shoved in their faces while buying tampons.

It's not always easy to do so, really.

My housemate owns several of these cars and he often travels to Germany or England to drive on a proper circuit in order to really exploit his cars, but it's not something he can do too often, unfortunately.

***can always happen anyway, whether you are a highly trained pilot or a "simple driver", nobody is safe.

You missed the parallel. Allow me to enlighten you:

Despite the use of a period after a dependent clause, this statement does not say "If a car can go that fast, why wouldn't you take it to the race track to drive it." The above says "expensive item" ---> "not used in a manner commensurate with its cost."

There is no explicit mention of the potential for bodily harm. The answer to the posed rhetorical answer is effectively answered by the analogy: People do things that don't make sense.

When someone does something stupid like downloading something that compromises their expensive computer there is no reasonable possibility that it will effect anyone else. That's the problem with that parallel. He was driving out of control on a public road and thankfully only the people in the car died, instead of a half dozen children waiting for a school bus.

GT's are cars made to go fast, the tail-end gets loose very easily. When they first came out two guys died at the racetrack putting it sideways into the tirewall. They're made for speed, not impact.

Saying "why wouldnt you take it to a race track" doesnt make Carbonfiber/plastic hybrid chassis any safer. Though least race tracks have fire extinguishers ready. The driver of the car was a Pro and still messed up. Roger Rodas RIP

I'm aware of the difference.

However:

This line: --------

And this line: -------------------------------

Are parallel despite a difference in magnitude.

As long as the perspective is from that of the original quote:

Off road? As in DIRT???

I remember seeing, in an article about how some asphalt racing track had deprecated, a picture of a crack with a cigarette pack used for scale. They could have used a quarter.

STREETS ARE HORRID PLACES TO GO REAL FAST.

P. S. I have less than 100 hours racing and that includes go carts. But it does include some Porsche 550A time.

The first time I realized I hadn't the skills I thought I had was on the street. In a turbo Corvair Spyder.

No, off-road as in off the road. Off-road gets applied only to wilderness style tracks for some reason in conversation. I did a fair amount of mixed tarmac/dirt rally, but I'm far more at home on the blacktop.

It's not in post-production according to the news reports and Walker didn't finish all scenes leaving the studio and writers with quite the predicament on how to resolve Brian as a character. I doubt they'd just scrap all of his work considering they have good portions of it down already in addition to archived footage to work with.

Honestly, Fast6 already prepared us for the potential exit of Brian. They should just power through the rest of 7 using doubles or CGI if they have to then resolve Brian with a cliche letter or exposition through his wife. They have a baby to raise, this ***is dangerous, good luck Dom, witness protection etc etc.

I really doubt they go the 'kill Walker' route to feed the series another sequel as it comes off as a bit too opportunistic and I'm sure guys on the cast would be none to happy committing to such an affair. That being said, it would be better than the cliche scenario and would give Diesel the fuel (hehe) needed to shoulder the franchise going forward.

Pretty sure Walker would want to see the Fast series continue forward to 10 or whatever they were planning with or without him.
