We do.
Look at the first tournament and you will see the video codes for most of the fights. Even for the finals (it's in the OP)

Could be he means if you don't have the game.
Also, put my type as flying for the type tournament. After much breeding and thinking up random combos of pokemon of Dragon, Fire, and Flying, I felt like flying would be the most fun to try and something out of my comfort zone. I've never tried anything like what I'm going to be trying to do with my flying team, so it could be interesting and fun. :)

I spent money on the wrong capture crap, blah
anyways that's tomorrow's problem! I can record with a HD camera and youtube the replays no biggie, it would actually seem like a fun project for me

Could be awesome. :o I've tried to set up a camera to record my playing on some games, but it failed pretty hardcore. xD
Hopefully it works out for you, cuz that would be pretty nice. :D

So what's the deal with this Smogon site? I mean, all they are doing is complaining about a difficult pokeomon to beat? I've beat a few mega-gengar in my time, not too difficult. Just seems so... blah. They the authority on the games or something though? Like if you somehow get into a legit tournament they'll go by those rules? Just curious, not meaning to sound like a *** or anything.

that's the basic concept ya lol, i too have beaten my share of mega gengar, but if you read the whole post you'd see the point of the ban on mega gengar.
just like wobuffet was banned etc, anyway. we don't necessarily have to follow the rules they provide, BUT we did/do follow those rules for the last tournament etc.
ya if you read it, it basically says that he's capable of taking down a key pokemon on your opponents team w/o their control, making your inevitable victory much higher. they are basically saying that 1 pokemon shouldn't be able to turn the tides of things like that, making it unfit and unfair for the OU metagame.
while it's still viable in ubers metagame, if you like playing with ubers.

well duh but if you faced a person who knew how to use mega gengar effectly or legendaries effectively for that matter, they would have a large advantage instantly over you, oblivion wing really...

ive had one on my ghost team, tho i tend to use mega-banette more, its not that more special than any other mega. someone over at smogon prolly got butt hurt about getting beat by one a few times.
tho if it does get banned for this tourny i may have to drop out due to not having the time to find and train a replacement in a few days due to having to work some long shifts this next week.

I can see why Mega Gengar would be banned also.
However, I don't believe that it would be fair for those who selected Ghost-types (or were thinking about selecting Ghost-types) in the Type Tournament to have one of the few Pokemon they could select banned so late in the registration time-frame.
If this happened a week ago, or even better, before registration for this tournament started, then I would have included it in all tournaments.
But for the Type Tournament only, Mega Gengar will not be banned due to the timing of this announcement. People still have a lot of time and options to breed/replace Mega Gengar for any of the leagues, but not for the Type Tournament.
I updated the OP to include this new ban for the leagues.

No worries, actually it is a good idea for you to update us (since most of us, myself included, don't usually go to that forum) on the latest tournament stuff.
Global changes are ok, but specific events (pokemon banned less than 2 weeks on a type tournament for example) are too late imo.
Appreciate your updates though.

If anything, its easier for a type team to replace than a standard one. Standard ones rely on pokemon that work well together, you can't just replace one member and say it'll function the same.

If a bug was banned, it would be nearly impossible for me to replace it, I would have to change types just to be competitive.
I don't know about Ghost (I didn't research it that much) but I would assume the same if one of your few strategies was disallowed.
Plus, I didn't think it would be fair for those who choose Ghost type as their team. If there was an overall ban of a bunch of different types, then I would uphold those bans. But this was just 1 poke.

can just give him a life orb and he'll function exactly the same way. unless you actually utilize shadow tag, like i do on my competitive team, then there is no difference. yet i have to go and replace at least three team members and change my entire team's synergy

Smogon rules aren't real tournament rules. They just pretty much own a monopoly on what is "fair rules" and everyone just follows. For instance smogon bans all evasion based attacks and abilities, where as in most Nintendo/Game Freak tournaments it's not banned.
I think Smogon just bans things that annoy the player base so everyone is on an even playing field.

it's more like, luck has always been a huge part of the game, but when you start to use evasion items, and evasion boosting abilities and moves, you start to create your own luck, moving luck more into your own favor.
the attack moves implemented are already balanced, higher power moves either have consequences like recoil or low accuracy or lowering your own stats for example to balance out the move. While higher accuracy attacks have lower damage, and when you start taking out that safety net where your lower dmg moves no longer at least hit 100% you shift that balanced.
BASICALLY
TL;DR smogon is making the game more about strategy then either pure luck or being purely overpowered. what's the fun of winning if you arn't on an equal standpoint, such as putting all 6 of your enemies to sleep, having all super high powered uber pokemon on your team. etc

I wouldn't say more about strategy because what they are doing is setting these "tiers" for Pokemon and people are only using the same 20 or so pokemon and it's getting super tiring of seeing the exact same teams over and over again.
I don't know I feel as though they are hindering the game's true potential by filling people's minds with the idea of if you don't use these certain pokemon there's no way you will win.
In my opinion the most fun part of Pokemon is making a team out of Pokemon you like and that aren't really ever used because of Smogon and coming up with insane strategies to make them work.
I don't know I might just be over thinking it but I do believe Smogon's Rules are just to make the competitive game easier for them to counter.

they havn't set the tiers yet for x/y lol, the reason you see the same pokemon is because they are very good, and people like to win
also idk what you're even talking about NOBODY is stopping you from using ANY pokemon on your team.
THEORETICALLY if you wanted to do an overused battle you can use ANY pokemon that isn't uber, but once you leave the overused tier you can't use any overused pokemon.
if you think a pokemon is good, add it to your team, focus your team around it and work the core of you team towards it

Just beat toxleh 10/10 in a pokemon epic battle.... hes so bad
By Breezyy 2013-12-06 00:55:24
ya except im not fat like u :(
Ok, if you guys missed it, Round 1 is over there
Round 2 will be more interesting!!!
There will be 4 tournaments in this one, but 2 of them...are different (evil grin). Oh, and you don't have to declare your teams this time either.
Spoilers for each tournament:
Eevee Tournament! Rules are as follows:
There are only 9 Pokemon allowed for this tournament: Eevee, Leafeon, Glaceon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, and Sylveon. That being said, you will be seeing these over and over again.
However, you can only have 1 of each type in a team! No 2 Sylveons in a team!
Other than that, anything goes! Simple enough. Double Battles for this one!
Type Tournament! Rules are as follows:
You declare a type when you register, and your entire team has to be that type Meaning if you choose Normal, every single one of your team needs to be of the Normal type (can have a second type also, but the type you declared has to be all 6 teammates).
If your Mega Evolution changes types, the ending result has to be the type you declare! For example: Mega Charizard X cannot be part of the Flying type team, and Charizard cannot be part of the Dragon type team, even if you automatically Mega-evolve him at the start.
Ban Lists from Uber level is not allowed (Edit: 12/4/13. Mega Gengar has been banned on this list, but because the ban came so late in the registration, it will not be banned from the Type Tournament)
From Smogon.com:
Species Clause - A player cannot have two Pokemon with the same National Pokédex number on a team.
For example, using a team with two Koffing would break this clause.
Using different formes on the same team, such as Rotom-W and Rotom-C, also breaks the clause since they share the same Pokédex number (#479).
This rule was implemented for BW tiers following a Policy Review vote on October 30, 2010.
Sleep Clause - You lose if, at the end of your turn, two of your opponent's Pokemon were put to sleep by a move you used but were not forced into, and neither have had their sleep removed since then.
The clause basically means that if you have already put a Pokemon on your opponent's side to sleep and it is still sleeping, you can't put another one to sleep.
A move you were "forced into" is a move you must use because all other moves (that cannot inflict sleep) are disabled (by Choice item, Encore, or some combination of Taunt, Disable, Torment, and lack of PP) and you cannot switch (due to trapping moves, trapping abilities, Ingrain, or having all other Pokemon be fainted).
A move you used includes moves called by Metronome, Sleep Talk, Assist, Me First, or Copycat. It does not include Magic Coat or Magic Bounce.
Rest, used by either player, is never counted by this clause.
The definition of this rule was debated on in a Policy Review discussion.
This rule was implemented for BW tiers following a Policy Review vote on October 30, 2010.
Evasion Clause - A Pokemon may not have the moves Double Team or Minimize in its moveset.
Generally, this rule will be automatically enforced in simulator play. In Wi-Fi play, a player is considered to have broken the clause when a Pokemon is revealed to have been brought into the battle with a banned move.
This rule was implemented for BW tiers following a Policy Review vote on October 30, 2010.
This rule does not apply to BW Ubers following a Policy Review vote on December 21, 2012.
OHKO Clause - A Pokemon may not have the moves Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill, or Sheer Cold in its moveset.
Moody Clause - A team cannot have a Pokemon with the ability Moody.
This rule was implemented for BW tiers by acclamation on June 7, 2011.
These fights will be in the Single Fight Format Pokemon League Single Style! Rules are as follows:
This will be a league-style tournament, where everyone will have a chance to fight each other at least twice (possibly more if not that many people show up). Same banlist and Smogon.com rules from the Type Tournament. (Edit: 12/4/13, Mega Gengar has been banned from the tournament) Overruled for this tournament.
Dawn and I will setup the season schedule so everyone has a chance to fight each other. Everyone will have at least 3 fights every week (possibly more) that they need to get through. If you cannot finish all 3 fights, the fights will be considered a draw.
Scoring system as follows:
Win = 3 points
Tie = 1 point
Lose = 0 points
At the end of the league, there will be a playoff tournament where the top 50% of the league fights each other in a final, 1 round matchoff where there will be a champion at the end. If there is an uneven number of seeds for the playoffs, the seeded teams start from whoever has the most points and continues downwards until all seeds are taken. Meaning if you rank first in the league, you will probably be seeded for the playoffs.
These fights will be in the Single Fight Format Pokemon League Double Style! Rules are as follows:

And yes, this is a copy/paste of the Single Style Tournament. Bite me :P
One last note: If you are going to register, please make sure you stay the entire time. It kindof sucks when 3 people drop out and then one person gets seeded all the way to the finals! If you think you can't make it when it's time to start, just say so before the last day of registration!
Edit: Clarification on Items available to use. You can have items on your team, but they all have to be different. You also cannot use any eva+ or acc- due to the evasion clause. This applies to all tournaments. Changed, you can have items of the same kind for multiple teammembers
Last day of registration will be December 15th. That gives you a whole month to decide if you want to do a tournament or not.
Last rule: Above all else, Crystalchan cannot quit! Neither can Chuuuuuuuuu!
