You're illustrating the difference between the two sides perfectly. You want to exclude based on an innate characteristic and I'd like it if people would leave consenting adults alone to do their legal business. Guess which viewpoint will be on the wrong side of history (again).
Marriage means what it means, if it doesn't then neither does "dog" or "cat". Some people accept that it means husband and wife and others don't, but throughout the history of the US it has mean that. I advocate live and let live as you claim to, but part of live and let live is tolerating the other people who choose to live their lives recognizing that husband and wife doesn't mean husband and husband. ...and c'mon. You don't actually want to leave consenting adults alone to do their legal business, you want them to conform to your ideals and your lifestyle by recognizing gay marriage, if they don't you want them punished by law.
They can only be punished by law if they're are first breaking the law... soo... yeah...

Again Nausi... not everything is constant... there are things called progress and change... as I illustrated earlier there were many things in the history of the United States that were once one way and now another... When we realize that there is inequality we try to work to change that... I don't understand why marriage is any different... It's not like people will be forced to perform marriages if they don't want to... this is just a legal thing between the feds, state and people getting married...

There is no inequity in refusing to call a cat a dog. There is no inequity in saying that a husband and a husband don't make a marriage.

By process of elimination really.

I say let gays marry. It's not like they will be producing children on their own anytime soon anyway, so they are already not contributing to the next generation regardless if they are married or not.

The marriage issue is just the tip of the iceberg. The children issue really bothers me. I mean I'm happy for those couples who it genuinely benefits. But when your marrying or adopting solely to fit into this hetero-American family mold it becomes a bit disturbing, especially at the cost of children.

I am seeing tons of gays adopting and marrying just to fit into this heterosexual American Family mold who are absolutely unfit to be parents.

The semantics argument is really scraping the bottom of the barrel as far as arguments against marriage equality. It's countered simply by the fact that today's accepted definition of marriage is itself a result of cultural change (although when I marry, I will demand an adequate dowry). At least the "cuz Jesus said" argument is made out of faith and doesn't pretend to be rooted in logic.

They can't? Not with eachother maybe but there are many couples that not only adopt but do in vitro or get a surrogate... They can still produce but only one parent would be the biological...

You know, if I "helped" a lesbian make a child (which I'm more than willing to, for both ladies, anyday!), I would be hit with 2 issues:

1) My fiance will leave me.
2) I would more than likely get hit with child support claims. I mean, it has already happened before...

And? there have also been cases where the donator has come to want to be a part of the childs life and sued for custody.. lol...

If you're worried about getting nailed for child support then its simple... don't do it... you don't have to...

This was about you saying the gay couples can't produce children... they can... which is another issue that they face not being able to marry complicating the adoption process as only one parent is biological...

Not if you go through the legal means and don't actually have intercourse/provide genetic material in small cup.

The fiance think tho is her decision...

How so? Explain how heterosexual individuals experience the same societal pressures to fit into the hetero-American family norm.

Like I said, bottom of the barrel. The fundamental argument against marriage equality has always been that these people are different from me and do not deserve the same treatment as I get. So yes, bigotry. Enjoy being looked down in the same way we look down on the people responsible for and supportive of these.

I said on their own. With a traditional marriage, the guy bones the gal and out comes a baby.

With a gay marriage, neither the guys nor the gals can bone each other and pop out a baby. They would need outside assistance which is what I said. I never meant to say that they can't or shouldn't have kids, nor did I say that they can't care for one either.

It isn't gay families who "could be unfit to be parents" but traditional families fall in that category too.. (hence, the "Cops" reference)

I don't disagree with you, but there are plenty of heterosexuals who have married for those exact reasons, too. And, yeah, it is a terrible thing to do to your potential offspring. I understand the pressure to be like the Joneses (actually, I don't because I rarely respond to societal pressure of any kind, but I get the idea intellectually) and it transcends sexuality since it ultimately has nothing to do with sexuality. 50% heterosexual divorce rate says that getting married is probably caused by ill-advised ideas practically every day. One of my favorite webcomics has been ranting about it lately, actually.

This is why we need more government PSAs promoting homosexuality or, at the very least, buttsex. How does Doug Stanhope put it... "Take one in the fanny, save money on a nanny!"
