I used to have text in macros when I started.

slowly realized it was not a good idea....
spamming a macro when it was not up, cause there was no such thing as timers back in the day (and didnt know /recast command) so....

/yadda yadda whispers of the wind yadda <Aero x>
/yadda yadda whispers of the wind yadda <Aero x>
/yadda yadda whispers of the wind yadda <Aero x>

then I realized, with these macros, people NOTICE I be *** up. so been removing them most of them since lol

I only left a few ones, like Shellra/Protectra, and... my flash one was special. /scholar emote in it lol

someone in my LS, a brackmage, thought it was funny, to actually make shantoto stile macros for ALL his spells (terrible ones at it).... LS event rolled in, noticed people getting annoyed (myself included) at the full paragraph macros.... I yell at him to get that ***out. "but why, they are funny and not harmful" and I make up this BS that they are just too much and cant read log due to them clogging up the screen and that how spamming them loose their charm. lol. probably treathened with Raise 1 instead of 3's or not raising at some point? bam- macros removed.

a friend also told me a story at how she made a macro so funny (I forgot at this point in time) that when she used it in an LS event (EG) people where laughing so much that they wiped, lost claim, and even got points deducted from her DKP lol

I more or less stopped using light shot years ago unless it's for light debuff enhancement. Any time I slept something someone else would override it seconds later and since SE TREATS CORSAIR LIKE A REDHEADED STEPCHILD THAT JUST TRIED TO STEAL A CAR WHILE HIGH ON METHAMPHETAMINES, my quick draw timers are better used elsewhere for what mediocre damage output I can garner while blue mages superbuff and destroy everything in sight, but lowering the QD timer, making light shot a Sleep II-level sleep, or giving corsair a higher rating in marksmanship? That would break the game.

I used my ACP body as a QD piece, so I had a rather low cool down on QD. Plus I never ran huge events, so I didn't really worry about someone overriding my sleep. I can see how it would be annoying though.

obs. you didnt have CDR on sleepshot :V
I loved outpulling bard on cor on colibri camps. lvl 1 ammo with the fastest gun, and those fast boots, makes some fast pulls, by the time you reach camp, Light shot was up, roll up Melee, bring another bird in, roll Casters, rinse/repeat.

I still have the ones for teleports, those I figured were harmless so I never took em off.

"We're now departing for Tahrongi Canyon, don't lose a chance to roast a yagudo!"

"We're now departing for La Theine Plateau, don't forget your umbrella."

"We're now departing for Konschtat Highlands, for your health it is recommended to stay away from Bastok."

"We're now departing for Yhoator Jungle, don't get lost!"

*shrugs* it entertained people when doing teletaxi back then.

I never did macro utillity spells. not enough space, and my Pro/Shell macro was incomplete, only casted Pro, because always some jerk would run out of range by the time the 2nd spell would start cassting. lol so I manually clicked that.
as for the jerk who ran away, if it wasnt for a good reason or an expandable person, Id toss them a lower tier buff.

I was a cruel WHM in my Ls.

It smells like boiled cabbage.

Edit: All of Bismarck smells like that though. I miss Seraph where the smell of cabbage was confined to Bastok.

Unless they fixed it without my noticing (which is possible, I've been on other jobs more recently due to LS need), there's a floor to QD recast time and with the job gift and other available delay-adjusting pieces and some of the pieces are useless because you can't go below a certain delay anyhow.

And that delay is still very high compared to the rate other jobs pump out damage. Corsair was never meant to be top-tier DD, but with recasts what they are, and evasion being what it is on many current high-level targets without more than just hunter's roll, corsair is really sort of out in the cold.

It doesn't help that endgame content scales by party/ally size now too, because it's frequently more useful to not have corsair at all rather than have their buffs, but have the mob with more HP.

Corsair isn't entirely useless, and it holds its own in some occasions, but for the way my LS tends to do things it just doesn't fit a lot of the time.

srsly tho, during a wipe in dyna or other event, waiting to give people a R3 was just a waste of time, and then seeing the log spammed with: "r3 plz" "me too plz" "r3" was just frustrating, especially when other casters could get people up NP with R1. toldyelled at em to take what was given to them and STFU.

Counterpoint: when I ran a dynamis shell, I purposefully maintained a "R3 only unless the leaders specifically say to cycle raises" rule. We had a bunch of people who hated exping the jobs they had to come on to Dynamis, so that was my way of keeping them happy and respecting their time. It also meant I got no complaints when I did say to cycle all raises, because it was an exception and not the norm.

Taking an R1 instead of an R3 back then was basically 15 minutes of exp wasted, given how bad exp parties were in general. It got better, obviously.

I like Dynamis. Even newer Dynamis is okay as long as it's not littered with a bunch of shitty beastmasters taking your mobs.

Dynamis was always my thing. It's sad to me how far it's fallen in usefulness.

I think I'm going to go hang out with Lurklox Dhalmelneck. Poor guy is probably lonely.

Edit: Or maybe Haa Pevi the Stentorian. Lurklox probably gets the occasional visit from people still looking for relic horns and shields.

To be entirely fair, I always took R1s (or had RR1 on). Wasn't like I was asking people to do something I wasn't doing myself.

It's about establishing trust. They trusted me not to waste their time and exp, and in return I got functionally no complaints about job selection, strategy choices, or zone rotation. Life was better for literally everyone involved.

We ran a couple of runs to see if it was a big time sink, and it turned out to be basically negligible. If you're dying enough that you need to optimize the raise cycle, then you're solving the wrong problem anyway.

we ran a low LS and we did get most clears (not qifim, tav)
best we had was 4-5 parties on a good day, but the usual was just 1 alliance. sometimes I was the only WHM. so yea, R3's was an issue.

Jokes are srs bzness.

Bolded sort of true though. If wipes happen for some reason, raise up asap and don't complain about raises, get on your feet and get moving. But mostly just don't die.

Mostly learn who you can let pull, really...

I ended up with a few of them when I leveled SMN and NIN, SMN's were removed for awhile until I learned of the echo command. NIN's were kept the whole time, since I started them as echoes, and I thought they were clever as I not only made them "witty" but I made the wording so that I remembered their rotation and any DOTs they would help me land, I also ended up adding JP txt to them to help me retain some of my reading ability.
