Their cooking oil of choice in stores is sunflower oil, which is supposed to be healthier than vegetable or canola oil
Canola oil is pretty healthy as far as oils go.
A nice skinless breast, soak it in an egg with water, shake in a bag of bread crumbs, fried it in the sunflower oil. Comes out pretty good.
Pat chicken breast dry > dredge in flour > shake off excess > dip in liquid (egg, buttermilk, yogurt, whatever you like; I use egg) > coat in bread crumbs > bake or fry as you choose.
Works quite well.
I throw some salt, cayenne pepper, and regular pepper in with the flour to season a bit more still.
There's a girl down the block that makes awesome homemade french fries for me. Straight from the potato. She makes it look easy, lol, but it takes a little bit of work.
Twice-fried or what? Good fries are relatively easy, oven or fryer, unless you start getting into fancy beer-battering or twice-frying or w/e.
I bake them, personally.
Cut potato to desired size > rinse in cold water for ~10 minutes, drain and pat thoroughly dry > toss in oil (I use canola) > arrange in single layer on foil-lined sheet pan > ~20 minutes at 450F.
Remove and salt immediately. I throw on a little seasoned salt and paprika, personally.
Outstanding.

watch out for "Vegeta" chaos. they put it on a lot of things and it has enough msg in it to kill a horse Yeah I've encountered food like that. There's really only one place I'll eat at once in awhile that uses it in the city center as they only use a little. Some of the other encounters were heavily used and I was confused on why I felt a little sick after eating until I found out why.

Nah, just the whole peeling and cutting, lol.
I'd probably cut myself more than the potato at the speed she is able to do it.

Ah. I leave the skins on. Just scrub them real quick with a vegetable brush. As for cutting, if I'm doing wedges or steak fries I'll knock them down into approximately 8 pieces pretty quick, otherwise I just run them through a mandolin. Takes about 30 seconds and just rinse the mandolin clean before starchiness has a chance to sit and dry onto it.

So, I've been tinkering around with an idea for a couple of months. Just wondering, how much of an investment of time do you think it would be to learn C++ and what's a practical language to follow up with?

Why C++? And do you have prior experience? C++ is not something I would recommend as a starter language.

Some interesting info about MSG.
Obviously if it's just heaped into food -- if anything is just heaped into your body -- it can have some negative consequences, but it's not the devil people think it is.
Of particular interest:
Quote: Furthermore, Olney injected the MSG into his mouse subjects in doses that were actually fit for horses — far higher than what any human would ever consume. “Anything consumed in excess is no good,” says Lee. “Everything consumed in excess could be toxic, including MSG. However, that being said, I have yet to see any documented account of somebody killing [himself] by consuming vast quantities of MSG. It would be extremely difficult to do.”
Subsequent experiments have helped dismantle the MSG-is-bad-for-you theory. For instance, in one study from 1993, researchers tested 71 subjects for reactions to MSG in relation to CRS, concluding that “rigorous and realistic scientific evidence linking the syndrome to MSG could not be found.”
In 1999, Katherine Woessner’s team conducted a single-blind, placebo-controlled study to test the effects of MSG on 100 asthmatic patients (an earlier paper suggested that asthmatics with a sensitivity to aspirin might be sensitive to MSG). The researchers found that, while 30 participants believed they had a history of CRS, only one showed signs of reduced lung function after exposure to MSG. When that subject was tested again — this time in a double-blind, placebo-controlled challenge — the test came out negative.
Then in 2000, researchers conducted the largest double-blind, placebo-controlled study on MSG, consisting of 130 subjects who said they were sensitive to the additive. The researchers found that MSG produced short-lasting and minor reactions in a subset of people — but these could not be reproduced consistently upon retesting. (Read about more MSG-related experiments in this peer-reviewed essay appearing in Clinical Correlations: The NYU Langone Online Journal of Medicine.)
Meanwhile, the FDA calls MSG “generally recognized as safe” (a classification that the agency originally made in 1959). On its website, the agency writes, “Although many people identify themselves as sensitive to MSG, in studies with such individuals given MSG or a placebo, scientists have not been able to consistently trigger reactions.”

Zahrah the programmer?!
Depends on how much you know about programming in general and what you want to do with it. If you're just starting out, you're gonna need to invest a lot of time and not start with C++ right away.
But you do have excellent math skills so maybe you could dive right into C++
You should get back into drawing imo :P

Almost anything other than C++, actually ;)
It depends on a lot of things. What do you want to do? Do you have any previous exposure or experience? Do you know Unix?

Well, what would be a practical starter? Easiest, quickest way to get your feet wet is always BASIC.
You can try some simple Visual Basic.
Any idea of what types of programs you want to make?

My wife's first code was -- I believe -- LPC. But I'm pretty sure that's applications are limited.
It was my first, too. But it was my only, as I'm terrible at it.

*** YEAH, LPC.
I loved LPC. Still do. Learned a TON about OOP from learning it as a bored college student. It now mostly lives on as Pike.

We were both players on The Two Towers LP MUD back in the 90s through the early aughts.
She coded way longer than I did, I went back to just playing.
She has a computer science minor. I know she had to *** around with COBOL, I forget what else she had to do though.

My argument against VB is that Visual Studio tends to do too much for you, too much magic. You can make stuff but you won't really learn anything. It's my argument against C# as a starter language too, even though everything else about it actually lends itself to that role.

I need to get back into programming again. Haven't really programmed anything in over a year half now. There's been some html and perl, but I don't consider that programming.
I always feel like I'm going to forget everything, but then it ends up like riding a bike, you never forget, lol.

Have you done anything with the more advanced and indepth perl stuff? Moose, etc? It's every bit a full featured language, despite its reputation, and I find it indispensable for a lot of daily tasks.

Very novice. The only real exposure would be from boyfriends or boys who are friends while obliging my curiosity while they were in on C languages and Java. College seems like a long time ago.
What would be segue into programming apps?

Yeah, I was thinking more from a never programmed anything ever standpoint. Just to grasp the concept and then move onto Java maybe.
I'm old school though. Basic -> Pascal -> C -> C++ -> ASM is my thought progression process.

So, if you want to write phone apps, you have three options:
Objective C/Swift for iOS
Java for Android
some "write once, cross-compile everywhere" solution like Xamarin
In theory, anything that can run on the JVM can run on Android, which opens up things like Scala and JRuby. Do you have a Mac? Because doing iOS dev is pretty rough without one.

Since we all can't be on the same linkshell in game, this can be our cross server linkshell thread.
Like most linkshells, it can be pretty dead at times. Other times it's full of intense conversations about either rl, gear, goals, pokemon or anything else you want to contribute.
We can cover any sort of topic at all, within reason of the forum rules. No real main topic, just a bunch of FFXIAH friends/people coming on and discussing random things.

Update: Sorry Eternaltriumph, too much has changed D: (Page 698)
Eternaltriumph said: Yeah Chuu. Bringing you up to speed, Ludoggy is the LS pedophile. I'm the fountain of random and useless knowledge that makes you go "Hrm" with the occasional side of "holy shit he said what?"
Kungfu is the LS nutjob, spouting super random things that are usually sexist, until Savvy or Alyria comes into the room. Then he's a classic case of sexual harrassment. Rumaha is also true to the second part; we're wondering about his sexuality though.
Daj is Ludoggy's gay lover. Not much else is known about this Asuran. Tairo is kinda new, but since is a female and Alyria's lesbian lover, she fit right in real quick.
Celene(F) and Rowland(M) are more of the shyer members, but often say things that are witty, have a good pun and sometimes cause three page discussions. Celene hates when people hit on her. It doesn't stop them from trying.
Krizz is just social and likes to kill time here during work Tbest is about the same, except tends to be a douche to guys and affectionate toward girls.
Alyria is the most social female, gets groped a lot without provoking it by others, and Tairo ends up stabbing people for it. Cai is just a barrel of lols, I might be gay for him. If I wasn't straight.
Not sure about Citag, s/he's new. Kiriyu is just an in-out kinda person. Says one thing every three days that every guy makes a big fuss over. Ludoggy gets really defensive since she's asian and underage (might be 18 now).
Artem is the wayward soul that makes you ponder the meaning of life by constantly reminding us life can suck. But he deals, and so do we. About the same for Savannah, except people are more "AWH!" to her because of a vagina involved.
Dasva is the ex military man (as is Krizz but this doesn't apply to him) who hates the world and plots a way to destroy most of it.
Number2 is kinda like a mix between Cai and I; never bashes, likes to laugh and has odd avatars. His current suits a lot of the convos this LS gets into. Barti is most well known for his moustache. He gives mousatche rides for a fee. I'm missing a few people but whatever. CARRY ON!
Luelle Smells.
