It's not a hard stop - special occasions and work conferences, I'll still have a few - but my regular consumption is gone, and I honestly couldn't be happier for it. Personally I have a simple and completely non medical definition for addiction that really only applies to how I percieve others in my own life and thats about all. Can you stop doing it? If yes then you're not... If no, then you have a real problem there.

I was talking more about that single mother who just got off her 12 hour shift going home to make sure her kids are tucked in and such so the drunk *** doesn't ram into her car and come out relatively unscathed while she dies on impact and her family is then forever scarred....

Anyone else always tip in cash? I'm not sure how tips work these days and how they dispense them later but I always feel if I CC them the actual person who served as the waiter/waitress doesn't get that full tip. They're the only one that deserves it damn you!

I'm not saying those in the service industry shouldn't pay taxes, but I think it's up to them how they go about reporting it or not, and let them suffer the consequences if someone at the IRS has such a bug up their but that they want to audit a poor server at Primanti's. I went through a period where I carried little to no cash, but I've started frequenting a few small businesses recently that, while offering CC services, get gouged pretty hard by the major CC banks for the surcharges, so I pay cash whenever I can.

I read a thing recently about a bartender in GB and he said he can pick out Americans in a crowd normally (we are, apparently, more outgoing and friendlier to strangers? Who knew?) and he tries to be extra-good to them because they tip and don't realize it's not a thing there, so he can make mad money on a night with a lot of Americans in his place.

I actually didn't like the movie. Not a Tarantino fan. I also don't agree with Buscemi's methods here and I always tip 15%. I just thought it would fit in with the discussion.
I'd ask in faux outrage "how can you not be a Tarantino fan!?" but the fact of the matter is, I understand completely how you can not be a Tarantino fan.
My favorite comment about him -- and I sadly forget to whom it should be attributed -- is that "he doesn't so much make movies as remix movies; he's a DJ of movies." Seriously, though, I'd love to see tipping go away.
It introduces an element of risk to the income of someone who is statistically unlikely to be a high earner (yes, some people can make bank off tips, but those are not the standard, and it's silly to think they would be). Having a bad day and don't feel like smiling? Better suck it up, because no one tips a sourpuss. Don't respond to my hamfisted attempts at flirting? Well, your refusal to put up with sexual harassment for an extra 2% is noted, miss.
