It's got its downsides, but it's home for now. The cities aren't any different than other cities, and the only thing Nashville really needs is a subway system. Where do you live that's so much better? Because I've lived just about everywhere, and it all sucks. At least TN is pretty.

With the exception of the "world" cities (NYC/LA), most American cities are pretty similar down in the bones. Boston was unique, but that's more a function of its little brother syndrome with NYC.
