I wasn't into Evanescense, Fly whatever or the poppy "metal". Then again, I don't really like metal to begin with except for a couple of Metallica and Pantera songs that I associate with good, silly memories.

But after that first big rush in 2003 -- especially after Lee sort of said "screw you" to the entire band, left, and kept performing under the band's name -- I said "nope, you were always only par for the course in the genre anyhow". I liked Ace of Base when I was a kid too...but that may have just been the European ladies. It was that time of a boy's life. I wouldn't put Evanescense and Flyleaf and, uh...what's the other one. ***...Paramore! That was it! Basically the same band anyhow. But yeah. They were kinda different. Evanesence was emulating the European orchestral metal vibe, whereas Flyleaf and Paramore were more trying to be female-led hardcore bands (Halestorm more recently, too). But the thing is, if a band has to tell you how hardcore and metal they are...they aren't.
