EDIT: I've only watched a handful of videos and have been prodding Dame for a few answers. Honestly, some of the things are hysterical, but it seems like it would cater to some really sadistic people. :/
It's a game where you don't trust the guy who runs up yelling 'I'm friendly' because 98% chance he'll shoot you in the back or handcuff you. You evade until you have collected some gear, and if you have a few people running with you, can you start the whacky hijinks.

We were roaming as a group of 8. We find a stable and see a guy. He spots the group and starts running. Gotey yells out "We're going to need you to stop right there." He stops.
We talk to him, just *** with him, see how it's going, see if he needs any food or anything. Deem him fit for society so we're going to let him go. Then GP shoots him.

Also, I was wondering when you or Kara would make an appearance. Curious about your reactions to the spree, considering it was on your doorstep this time. It's a unfortunate incident, but not symptomatic of larger problems with regards to immigration or integration.
As the NYT article describes, it isn't as if most of these people are well adjusted individuals to begin with. It's nothing more than a different form of criminality.
I'm not particularly happy with the thought that significantly more resources are going to go into the terrorism and reaction area; but at least some is earmarked to go towards preventing/intervening radicalism.
In a strange coincidence, about a week or so before this occurred, the mayor for the local region had just arranged for a local discussion regarding how to reduce radicalism/improve integration in the community.
That article was pretty good at highlighting and confirming suspicions of using Islam as "a pass" for cruel, criminal tendencies.
So, do they offer integration counseling/classes within the school systems now? I can't speak to that, but free language/culture courses are available for some time after arriving in Denmark(apart from schools).
It would seem like offering this during adolescence would help with immigrant children. Just from a culmination of several articles it seems more about disenfranchisement of a population for the most part, my interpretation at least.
Did you and Kara read about the attack in Chapel Hill and the uproar at Duke? I can't speak to Kara, but I did read about the Chapel Hill incident.
My personal belief is that the concept of a hate crime is stupid.
Regarding Duke, it is somewhat dissapointing that such a reaction occurred. If ringing the bells in conjunction with/for services is allowed, then calls to prayer need to be allowed.
Otherwise, allow neither.

Is the island in the SE corner a good foothold?
It's a prison camp I believe. One of the current hotspots for players. It's like a 6 minute swim to get to the island and anyone on the island with a mosin and a longrange scope will make your life hell getting to it.

Yeah, I think I'm going to DL Dayz this weekend or next. I just want to lounge with a game, but nothing has really piqued my interest lately. Been fumbling with the idea of DayZ for months now.
So, here's a big question, can you block people you don't know from the in game voice-chat or is it open to everyone in the vicinity? The only thing that makes me a little apprehensive is some of the videos I've run across get a little weird.
Wondering if going with a guy in the character creation might be a better choice on some of the servers. If any randoms within the vicinity can hear though, then I guess it wouldn't matter whether I went with a girl character or not. Same results?

Run with a crew, carry a rifle, couple handguns w/ clips or speed reloader for revolvers, a shotgun, and a fireman's axe.

I'm just concerned about weirdos. Well we use vent, but use the in game chat when talking to other people.
It's usually not that bad, in fact a lot of times you don't see many or any other people unless you go to the hot spots.

Good to know! Especially the beret part. Oh I just threw that in for no particular reason. We have a boonie hat only dress code. Or used to anyway. It makes it easy to spot people.
That way if we see someone not in a boonie hat, we know it's not one of us. If we see someone in a boonie hat, "Are you by the church?" Quicker to identify.
Oh we also run a very strict scorched earth policy.

Most confrontations don't involve any voice com with other players. it's usually just a shootout. Really the only time you'll hear chatting is in the cities near where players spawn when they run around looking for gear and those places are avoidable.
You can go an hour+ running around not finding another person, but it's the adrenalin rush of running into someone unexpectedly and getting into a shootout that a lot of people play for. Or stalking a well geared player with a longrange mosin waiting for the perfect shot, just to run into a squad of 4 players and trying to get away from them.

Like most linkshells, it can be pretty dead at times. Other times it's full of intense conversations about either rl, gear, goals, pokemon or anything else you want to contribute.

Not sure about Citag, s/he's new. Kiriyu is just an in-out kinda person. Says one thing every three days that every guy makes a big fuss over. Ludoggy gets really defensive since she's asian and underage (might be 18 now).
Artem is the wayward soul that makes you ponder the meaning of life by constantly reminding us life can suck. But he deals, and so do we. About the same for Savannah, except people are more "AWH!" to her because of a vagina involved.
Dasva is the ex military man (as is Krizz but this doesn't apply to him) who hates the world and plots a way to destroy most of it.
Number2 is kinda like a mix between Cai and I; never bashes, likes to laugh and has odd avatars. His current suits a lot of the convos this LS gets into. Barti is most well known for his moustache. He gives mousatche rides for a fee. I'm missing a few people but whatever. CARRY ON!
