Or simply surrounded by seasoned drinkers who know how to enjoy a drink as it was intended.
I mean, there are different kinds of mixing scotches available, but the premium stuff that gets aged for 7+ years should be enjoyed on it's own. Here's how I mix my scotch:
6 parts scotch 3 parts scotch 1 part scotch. 10 parts scotch to enjoy.

My doctor told me this a while ago, but certain alcoholic beverages (and the corresponding amounts) can ease some of the more painful symptoms of diabetes.
Like 1 can of beer a day - Lager or Ale Half a glass of red wine 1 shot of white rum or vodka (or other clear distilled liquor) Didn't bother to look into it, so not sure how true it is. Bourbon is for mixing or shots.
Whiskey is for mixing or shots. Blended whiskey is for mixing or drinking straight, on ice or shots as you choose. sub-$50 Scotch can be mixed, but I still think it's best on ice or, ideally, on whiskey stones so it's not diluted, but this can vary by brand. $50+ Scotch can be watered a touch, but I prefer it neat, at room temperature. Well, damn! Went from looking for an Al Green song to this...
