Hey Mos, I don't want to derail other thread, but wouldn't shooting down drones be a BAD idea with fire arms. Something about shooting into the air....just...goes against most safety teachings I have read/heard. Or are we allowing private citizens to shoot things down with radar guided weapons?? Anti-aircraft flak cannons? (note to self, do that one so I can have fun of cranking that cannon)

(note to self, do that one so I can have fun of cranking that cannon) well..... yes and no. is it a good idea in general? hell no. can you do it? with a general disregard for life, you can, but personally I like to know for sure where every round I send away from me at high speeds will end up, & not solely for legal reasons, either. so idk. to each their own, I guess, but I would not send rounds upwards. straight up in the air is another matter, as the rounds velocity slows to a point that it's largely harmless (not that it wouldn't hurt) so I know of yahoo's who'll do that old west style for shits & kicks, but it's never a guy I drove out there with....

O and as to realistically shooting down a drone, yeah maybe with a high powered rifle if it was coming towards you, but short of that, you'd have to get yourself on a list for some heavy weaponry.
