My advice? Get used to it lol... kids are evil little *** that feed off you and live in a self-centric world where their own needs and wants are the only thing that exist... but you love em so what can ya do lol... It might seem kinda harsh but that's just how I see it... most eventually outgrow it all as they go out on their own and soon realize all the ***they're parents did for them...
Depending on what you have time for/want to do and such... get the mommy in here to back you up on everything... try to explain to em or try to do something that show their little brains that you're around but I seem to find that it always works better with a united front... yours are still kind of young too... Personally I did not know people had a second favorite color at all lol...
Take it for what you will though... I'm just another guy with no kids of his own so I probably have no idea what I'm talking about..

It's not so much that kids are little ***, but most kids expect their parents to work and know everything about them and do everything for them and be, well, perfect. Lolreality.
A lot of kids see other peers say "well my parents did this for me" or "your mom and dad didn't do this? well my mom and dad did, they're better than yours", but the problem is most of these kids lack the discipline that other parents give their kids. Lolrespect. Your child is that, a child. Not a buddy you can hang around with and if they do something wrong just say "it's ok, I'll take care of it". Every parent wants to be the "cool mom" or "cool dad", but seriously, sometimes you have to be a jerk to set your kid straight. I got grounded. Look how I turned out. :DDDDDDD

Either way, I was taught from a young age that you can't always get what you want. Life won't be fair, but it's what you make of it will make you happy. Friends and family will always be there for you. Also to appreciate what you have. If I broke something, I wasn't going to get another one right away. Like when one of my dad's friends sat on a makeup set I had just gotten for my birthday. I was spraying the bottle of cleaner and I accidentally got a resident in the face with it. I panicked and rushed over to the nurse and told her what happened. She went over to the resident and asked what had happened. The resident told her nothing happened and didn't know what she was talking about. Nurse gave me a dirty look and walked off. Good times.

Dads and their video games! LOL! I've already dumped a couple of stories about the death matches with my brother for the second controller when my dad was playing with us. I remember he and my brother playing one of the War Crafts on dial-up. My dad still plays things like 'Battlefield 1942' and other FPSs to unwind. It's so funny that it used to be the stereotypical, socially inept "geeks", and now it's just commonplace. When you think about it, most Millennials all grew up with it via our parents, but of course in the 70's video games were deemed a passing fad.
