one of my best friends growing up (dude was like a brother, even lived with me for like 3 years) is sitting in prison. since we were 18-19 our lives have taken opposite paths. I went off to a technical school for a year, settled down, ect. he basically stayed around here, partying & getting into meth. now that he's locked up, he sent me a long, terribly depressing letter about how no one will answer his phone calls or letters (including his family) & how he'd love for me to write back so he can have someone to talk to. now, I'm a compassionate fellow, & if someone's in need, unless it would directly hamper my work, 10/10 times I'll help. that being said, I sit down to write a letter to this guy, & realize I haven't had anything in common with him in 10+ years, & have no idea wtf to write to the guy. all I do is work, hang with my kids, play VG's, & talk to you guys occasionally. well there, summed my life up in about 16 words, so wtf now? this really sucks, it feels like an awful chore, & I'd rather stick my *** in a rusty pencil sharpener. OK, sorry, needed to vent that. <3 you guys.
Not that you are asking for advice, but the easiest thing to do is play catchup first ...tell him what you have been up to for the past x years since you last talked. Your family, marriage, kids, etc may be some inspiration that he needs to clean up his life. Second, ask lots of questions. This will give him the sense that someone cares about him and a sense of self worth. If he knows he has *** up his life and is looking to straighten up, you could make all the difference.
If he could care less that he has *** up, then I wouldn't bother. He is just feeling sorry for himself, lonely, and wants you to fill a void and make him feel better about himself.
This is why you should live in a different state then your "old" friends/acquaintances and only communicate with people online. It is much easier!

I don't mind chatting with old friends and stuff, it's that random small talk with people who you are only talking to due to a common event/acquaintance and you really have nothing else in common lol. You know, like at weddings and stuff.
Haha totally kidding btw ... while I don't venture from my house very often, except for little man adventures, I am a social butterfly when I feel comfortable somewhere.
However, there is something about work events where I tend to shut myself off. I don't have much in common with many of the people here which makes for awkward conversations. My boss is awesome because she has kids around my son's age, so we can shoot the ***about our weekends no problem.
My neighbors ... OMG ... one is a chronic liar and religious fanatic who likes to tell me how blessed she is all the time, which drives me up a flippen wall! Another is a crazy old bat that keeps spawning cats that like to hang at my house, and the 3rd is pretty cool when she wants to be, but usually keeps to herself. The rest of the houses are either empty or the people never come out when we are in the cul-de-sac.

Daj is Ludoggy's gay lover. Not much else is known about this Asuran. Tairo is kinda new, but since is a female and Alyria's lesbian lover, she fit right in real quick.
Celene(F) and Rowland(M) are more of the shyer members, but often say things that are witty, have a good pun and sometimes cause three page discussions. Celene hates when people hit on her. It doesn't stop them from trying.
Krizz is just social and likes to kill time here during work Tbest is about the same, except tends to be a douche to guys and affectionate toward girls.
Alyria is the most social female, gets groped a lot without provoking it by others, and Tairo ends up stabbing people for it. Cai is just a barrel of lols, I might be gay for him. If I wasn't straight.
Not sure about Citag, s/he's new. Kiriyu is just an in-out kinda person. Says one thing every three days that every guy makes a big fuss over. Ludoggy gets really defensive since she's asian and underage (might be 18 now).
Artem is the wayward soul that makes you ponder the meaning of life by constantly reminding us life can suck. But he deals, and so do we. About the same for Savannah, except people are more "AWH!" to her because of a vagina involved.
Dasva is the ex military man (as is Krizz but this doesn't apply to him) who hates the world and plots a way to destroy most of it.
Number2 is kinda like a mix between Cai and I; never bashes, likes to laugh and has odd avatars. His current suits a lot of the convos this LS gets into. Barti is most well known for his moustache. He gives mousatche rides for a fee. I'm missing a few people but whatever. CARRY ON!
