Albeit historiography is useful, you usually bring in a geologist for that part. Calc has an extremely limited use in the field, which is why as a history major you don't study it. I never said it wasn't useful I just think use is determined by your field. I'm happy with the Liberal arts, and sure, monetarily it doesn't make as much as an astrophysicist, but I'm going to enjoy what I do. As far as those other subjects are concerned, if you excel at that sort of thing, then kudos. As for me, my brain doesn't work like that. I'm happy with the fact that the only numbers I have to see again are either my gradebook or financial stuff at home. I have no need to ever consider the Pythagorean theorem again, nor do I have to figure out the difference between a covalent and an ionic bond. And this keeps me happy. I would much rather dive headfirst into some Shakespeare and contemplate life on a metaphysical level, and my life will be filled with such. It may not work for many people who are constantly chasing that buck, but for me... it'll be more than enough.
