Today's FFXIAH is a tamer shadow of its old, horrible self. Remember when drama threads and the usual suspects would peddle their ***all over these boards which resulted in the overhaul of this site to prevent permanent damage to its revenue stream?

These P+R threads are a stiff breeze compared to that. Part of me misses the whole cesspool but that's well behind us all now.

It's not that they don't want you to discuss it. It's just they want you to discuss it in a CIVIL and POLITE manner.

I stress those words because I too have let my emotions get the better of me on this site and have started to name-call and such. When you have people that deliberately start the fire, it's not long before people will start to feed it. The mods try to douse the fire before it gets to that point.

I have no problem reading about how Obama's ties with Russia are strained and the different opinions that surround it. The problem is when someones tries to chime in with "LOL OBAMA, HE SUCKS, LOL LIBRULS, YOU ALL SUCK".

Meh, I guess I just took the phrasing to mean we were getting chastised for posting too much in this sub-forum.

It's more of a we scream threads are demained and they give a reason for said demain.

Most of the ***that gets started on here is from people that either don't read what someone else is saying and just "put words in said person's mouth", ignores what said person has wrote and assumes it's something against their opinion or someone that misconstrues what someone else has said.

Anyways, enough of demaining talk:

My two cents is that this Snowden thing is out of control. Obama should try to forge better relations with Russia. World Peace. All that jazz.

It's hardly confined to the P&R forum, but people are more polarized on political and religious issues than anything game related.

Have you seen the FF14 vs. FF11 forums?

Please explain to me how real world issues have people less vested than the perceived competition of 2 MMORPGs even on a game website.

What I'm saying is that more people react to "FF11 is going to die" versus "US and Russia tensions". Priorities.

There's a reason why there's so few people that browse the Politics forums versus the other ones here. And even then those forums I mentioned still have people fighting like rabid dogs.

Also, mention of Politics and Religion tends to have people throw around words/topics that aren't allowed on this site to begin with.

Do you mean that it's the only defense people have when others call Obama a crybaby? Because I pretty much feel that Obama is being a "crybaby" too, although it may be appropriate in this case. Would you rather we put damaging sanctions on Russia? That's a dangerous game to play. We're not talking about Iran here, but a world superpower who took us to the edge of mutually-assured destruction 45 years ago. Obama is in the wrong with his position on the surveillance state and whistleblowers, and I don't want him doing damage to our country to enforce his position. Let Obama pout and stamp his feet, and hope he's satisfied with petty gestures.

In the general sense of "people accuse Obama detractors of being racist when they're not", I disagree that there isn't racism involved oftentimes. There are certainly plenty of valid reasons to be critical of Obama. The thing is, too many right-wing politicians and pundits resort to dog-whistle statements and outright xenophobia when talking about our president. Do you deny this?

Obama is just using Snowden as an excuse to not meet with Putin because he is gutless and afraid of him. Obama is like a dude that talks a lot of ***on the internet, but then actually has to come face to face with the person and he sits there all quiet with his legs crossed while Putin eats his lunch. 5 years into a Presidency and to this day the only negotiating that Obama has ever done in his life is talking his professors out of failing him in college. The man takes five years and counting to decide if he is going to approve a pipeline. He is indecisive and has no backbone. Putin terrifies Obama. I don't think anyone would deny this. Putin Ex-KGB and Obama read a book about how to stand up to a bully once. The only lesson he learned was give him your snack pack.

Except for, you know, Obama's first term during which Russia and US relations did make significant progress.

Putin is a dangerous man, there's no arguing that, but he's hardly a bully. And since when did government operatives become insurmountable titans of politics? If they were good at negotiating, they wouldn't need to be covert.
