Obama Cries Over Snowden

Syria had already eroded relations and Snowjob is just a clever escape from the meeting. It's like one of those old school proxy wars all over again where we back the rebels and Russia supports the regime.

Reminds me of that nostalgic adventure in Afghanistan 1.0 where we gave weapons and training to an old bloke named Osama Bin Laden and the Mujahadeen. Everytime I see the The Living Daylights I laugh a little inside when James Bond works alongside those guys.

I'm waiting for the other "heavy hitters" to show up.. that's when ***starts to get interesting.

Russia made a decision to grant asylum to a refugee. The sooner we realize that we can't dictate how other countries govern themselves, the better off we and the rest of the world will be.

I don't see why everyone seems so hellbent on believing that Putin gave Snowden asylum as some kind of international pissing contest. Russia didn't give him asylum because we cried about how they shouldn't, they just have the balls to make their own decisions.

Obama cancelling the meeting is honestly irrelevant. Putin doesn't care if we want to sit down peaceably, being friendly with Obama isn't in Russia's immediate interests. While there is very little threat of a war with Russia over virtually any issue, they aren't dependent on the US in really any way.

Let's face it, everyone is angry because they did what they wanted to do instead of caving to political pressure. If only our government would stop with the constant chest beating and just be a gracious loser for once.

So basically we can talk about politics/religion/galka sperm/stalking people and other assorted things as long as they're RT or NI but make a specific thread for it god forbid!

Plus I can not specifically talk to the gaming community about these topics there... it's all mixed in with normies... I like the crazies I'm used to!

It is FFXIAH.COM, having 2-3 of the main topics be political makes it harder to find FFXI topics. The smaller group of posters here makes a polite discourse much easier and having the common ground of FFXI is subtly tempering.

You must not spend much time on the actual political forums. This is a very civilized place to discuss topics.

It just comes down to instead of having a well-thought conversation on the differences of opinions on this site, it ends up being "lol, you suck for saying that" followed by several insults.

I can see why they get demained quickly, but still. I miss the laughs I get from these pages. D:

Who the hell cares if they demain these threads? P+R is a huge distraction from the legitimate purpose of this website and interrupts revenue streams by scaring off visitors who see a Trayvon Martin thread rather than the "Okote or Haubergeon" thread they are looking for.

That being said, lets all have some fun throwing feces at eachother. Honestly, this site is far more civil than any political website with a comments section where things devolve into death threats pretty quickly.

Same could be said of RT and NI and other nonsense threads that were made that don't deal specifically with FFXI...

I actually do, and sometimes I do see proper discussions that make me want to chime my two cents in on the subject.

Then it starts to turn into something completely different and makes me think if I state my opinion I'll just get mocked for it.

Ever hear that "One bad apple.." schtick? Sums up why these threads always get demained.

They don't get demained because of bad apples or incendiary speech, they get demained because they are a fringe section of a website with a very different purpose.

You do realize we have a politics sub-forum, right?

I disagree. When I first started to come on this site regularly as a poster there were several threads from Politics and Religion that were on the main page. Over time, they've diminished. Why? Because whereas one page can start on track, someone comes in, mentions "librul or conservative" once and all hell breaks loose.

Do I take pleasure in reading those threads? Yeah, I do. Does it mean that they need to be on the main page to feed the fire, probably resulting in someone saying the wrong thing which could lead to the site getting shut down? Nope.

I can see where Aelius comes from, and I understand why these pages get demained. Mostly to keep the idiots wanting to start trouble away by making them think that nothing is going on, so they go elsewhere.

Key words: Actively, Grand Scale.

Political people don't know how to read. That's why 1000+ page documents are being passed that strip our rights away because of this.

Demaining just prevents it from being visible on front page, that's all.

A lot of forums have generic sections divided up like that whether they actually intend for them to be active areas. They're not saying we shouldn't use them, but they aren't the purpose of the website.

You disagree with the reasons the mods have stated?

I dunno. All I heard was Aelius saying that we shouldn't be discussing politics in the politics sub-forum, which I find perplexing and vexing.
