Well, time to demonize police for shooting a kid who was armed and taunting them. Is there a link to any facts regarding the situation, backstory, why the kid had a knife acting crazy?

What could he have done with that knife? How many people could have died. Were you there? Was that you filming the video to hear what the kid was saying and what the police were saying to him? They made a judgment call to take the kid down. Who are you to judge them on something they are trained to handle?

Just going off what I saw in the video, which wasn't much, this is one of the few instances where I do think the Police were in the wrong. If the kid only had a knife, versus a half dozen or more police all with firearms and LL options, why was lethal force the first option used?

To be fair though, I couldn't see what was happening in the bus, if the kid charged an officer with the knife, then there is reasonable cause for lethal force to be used in defense, but nothing that I've seen indicate perilous aggression.

So in my personal opinion, while both parties were ridiculously stupid, in this case the Police had control of the situation and unnecessarily ended a life.


Man, if I had a kid and found out s/he was using ***like Dust Off or Bath Salts to get high, I'd buy them real drugs. At the very least, I want my Kid(s) to be a classy ***.

10+ cops? They could have managed differently.

Should have managed it better. 10 armed officers with training vs. one kid with a close-quarter weapon.

At night, why would you taunt police with a knife? Just why? I'm not saying he deserved to be shot to death, but he did deserve to get shot in general.

You don't joke with police, that's a basic rule. For having several police people in my family, none of them ever used their gun. They always explained that it is an extreme last resort.

As much as the world isn't pink everywhere and there are good and bad cops, first you don't taunt police, second you don't go around with a knife/any weapon, third you don't expect to do first/second and get out with a verbal warning. They could have shot in his legs and what not, I agree on that part though, they maybe could have avoided killing him. But I still believe that if you don't do stupid stuff, you wouldn't get shot at all in the first place.

If we don't do that in very laid back countries (EU) because it would be reckless, just how reckless would it be to do it in a region of the world where police has to fear for guns 100% of the time and live on the edge due to it? That's how I see it.

Law enforcement officers are suppose to exercise better judgement of a situation than what happened here, that's the whole point of having a special branch of peacekeeper instead of vigilantism, especially when the situation is so heavily stacked in their favor. Let's not even touch upon the fact that the Taser was used about 9 shots too late.

If this was a lone officer, I would have no qualms about him putting a round between the eyes of the kid, but the fact remains that the cops seemingly had total control of the situation and still opted to use lethal force.

"Better judgment" varies from agency to agency. Usually a pd has a lethal force section in addition to what they define as disabling a criminal.

Fingers should really be pointed at the city and agency. Why weren't paintball guns or pepper spray options for these officers?
