Ok, so I've been trying to get SE to fix their SE community site and so far failing. They probably aren't making it much of a priority.
I just made a tweet here
https://twitter.com/ffxiah/status/336877214001922048
Retweet it ( and follow FFXIAH of course :) add your FFXIAH user name to it, you will get pink bar for a week. Bars will be given and maybe SE will take action.

I'll be fine with my black name. It's actually to help the site, pink is just a benefit.
A large portion of members don't use Guildwork, so they can't have their profile updated. Scragg is trying to get SE to fix their site so these members can enjoy the features they had before.
It takes 3 minutes to make an account, and it might have some chance of getting this fixed.

Twitter is where I draw the line. Sorry. I do hope this problem gets fixed though. :)

TOURBILLION IS PRIORITY. I think they're still working on that "enmity" thing everyone is talking about.. I wonder how that's going?
And every time I see your Balthier avatar I have to stare into his eyes just in awe and girlish crush-ness.

Couple of days as browse the forums after a fishing session i saw a shout for delve and was wth let me go and get plasma. i knew on the of the people in the party so was this should be fun. Things that went wrong lol, leader had to be one of the rudest ppl i seen in a long time he bash the brd for not putting enough songs i guess 3 or 4 whatever empy gives, best part was that brd didn't have an empy . then accused the whm to not curing fast enough. i done delve more than a few times by no means im an expert at it but really how fast do you have to cure somebody? i mean if you cure goes off thats it you can make it go any faster just cuse you tell OMGZFF im dying here ...
i just wish some people actually took the time to be less rude and remember how far we come in this game
Cure faster means you have to get fastcast/cure spellcasting - gears.
A whm should also at least : cast pro/shell V, rotate haste starting by himself, sort chat filters to be ready to cast -na spells, be able to cure through alliance and not only party. Don't blame the players, blame the game. The majority of us have a limited time of play, that's' not an excuse to not be good at your job.
P.S': i'm not elitist and if people can learn and listen i have no problem with them.
Some of the new NMs can be quite the headache for a WHM considering all the TP moves that add damage and a bad status effect.
It's like yeah everyone takes 900dmg and is paralyzed. What's that? You tried to Paralyna? Oops, you just lost a DD now. Ideally your BRD should be covering status effects while you keep the frontliners up but aint nobody got time for that in today's XI.
PARALYZED

PLAGUE
and my favorite from DD: SILENCED
Generally a brd who knows his/her job will assist cure whm everytime he/she's able to.

There are plenty games better and harder than ffxi, we're just talking about this particular one.
Your personality is different and you need a kind of product that fits it, it doesn't mean everyone is like you.

Veteran players in ffxi nowadays hmm, someone who got lvl 75 before Abyssa release and is well geared / prepared for every event.
Also i personally find players who use all the tools available online to make playing easier are mostly the worst ffxi players imaginable as they are afk 50% of the time relying on their apps or tools to get them through everything.
Give me an 12 good players who have played on xbox since release vs 18 of the semi afk 50% of the time Pro botters anyday^.

if veteran is used in shouts i strongly believe it just the best auto translate terminology that describe good players with good gear.
if it used in a ls name i believe it mostly for old school players
on a slightly off topic: i have a slight issues with ppl using the terminology abyssea born and equals with bad players
especial when alot of those players does not have anything to backup they are good
about myself i just barely got my first job war to 75 before abyssea came out
i did all my city missions at around midt level 60'sh
i never got into endgame content before abyssea came out except for nyzul isle.
so you could pretty much say i was abyssea born
in my last couple of endgame-wannabe ls's after comming to the states the term abysse born has been tossed around alot negatively about other players.
from people not able to do the sh3t i do.
they think its always the solutions to add more dmg.
does not consider tp feed/hate control/cure&mp issues/distance&6angle of backline jobs when they set up a nm fight.
and yet they consider themself better because they are not abyssea born...
i did my emp relic and mythic myself or in a small groups of friends
not letting a ls carry me through it and yet ppl that cant even get their emp weapon started with aftermath are pointing fingers at abyssea born?
TL:DR jsut read first two sentence and skip the rest QQ stuff

I always considered a Veteran player as being someone who has adequate experience of the event you are shouting for, on that particular job you are shouting for. If someone did all their NNI runs on a DD job, then responded to a shout for a veteran SCH for NNI, I don't consider them a veteran, because they have no experience of SCH in NNI.

Inb4 rank downs.
I saw a lot of people come close to what's meant by veteran. Maybe just an adjustment to wording. A veteran player doesn't need to know the way the content works. A veteran player is able to easily adapt and find/exploit the holes and strengths in content.
Someone who grinds delve knows the ins and outs of delve. A veteran doesn't need to grind delve or know anything about it to be a major contributor in it. That's the difference.
People get down on abyssea a lot, but while everyone was newb-tubing it, there were actually some players that got a lot better. There were players that became veterans during that content, because it is always possible to learn and get better and there was a abundance of gear easily obtained which a lot of it still has at least situational usage. Abyssea was "easy setting" if you had a huge group.. but if you and 2-3 of your friends went in on the content, you learned a lot and a lot of that knowledge still expands outside of that content.
Being a veteran is loosely dependent on time played and gear choices.. however, Veteran is about experience.. much like the word means literally. A true veteran is all about squeezing the most out of the things he has.. using his brain to substitute for the party's shortcomings and adapting to situations.. even ones they have never been in.
To all the ladies, feel free to substitute she for he. I apologize if I stated or added onto things already said, but after reading the first page, the answer to this post became quite easily defined in my opinion.
To sum this up.. a veteran by definition is someone who has had long time experience in a certain field.. that field being FFXI in this instance. This is quite literally the definition of a Veteran Player.

If time spent was an indicator of being veteran or not, then you would have to count a ***ton of noobs as veteran. While I agree that perhaps the 'text book' meaning of veteran may indeed mean what you said, what we're talking about here is the social meaning, which is different.

i mean if you cure goes off thats it you can make it go any faster just cuse you tell OMGZFF im dying here ...
besides fastcar gear as noted above. god main healers should start their cures when they see AOE move start not when the dmg is done
that way you cure hit faster. jugle between normal cures and cureaga when apropriate.
its not just spamming a cure when you see someone is hurt
but i tottaly agree on rudeness. be informative and tell/teach ppl in you party thats part of beeing a leader.
I'm sure many of you see everyday shouts that required veteran players , play style . For quite some time i been pondering in the meaning of this nowadays, what does it truly means?.
Does it means that you are super elite and have great gear for your jobs?, or is it that you have too much time in your hands to do log in for 14 hrs a day and accomplished what some people cant in a tight schedule. FFXI is recently celebrating their 11th anniversary and with this being said, at least in my personal experience i haven't seen many new players come into the game , sometimes i read in the forums of very old friends and well known players returning to the game, but rarely do i see new people getting into the game, and when you do 80% of the time is the account of and existing player that got sick of shouting for something and decided to make a WHM account to dual box.
I would like to know peoples opinions in this matter , as im concerned Veteran has become nothing more than a rank in crafting and that's about it. because in reality how long do you have to play to become good at your job?. some people excel in large events while others are better suited for small scale missions and events, but that is nothing more than play stile .
i know that ffxi community has been famous for quite some for being either nice and friendly or complete elitists pricks no offense intended in this comment by the way. I'm just wondering were do we draw the line to define players as veterans and such . because even after you have all the best gear available to your job, how are you supposed to judge?. A whm job is to cure , rng to shoot shit and dd's well to hit stuff with a thunder stick. But after 11 years of beating stuff with the same thunder stick how much longer do we need before we can acknowledge that other people are good at their jobs , or compliment them or even advise them. Since it seems that is either be categorized as elite or GTFO. Very sorry for the wall of text now let the killing begin . I'll lay back and get my shield ready for the opinions to come .
Sincerely ~ Nadie
