I know this could be really far-fetched, but Xaxial reminded me of something obvious. Yesterday was the formal deadline for taxes and Boston Tea Party, anyone? Like many others on here, I'm inclined to believe that this very well may be a home-grown terrorist. I'm wondering if that might have had something to do with the culprit's sadistic "statement", maybe?

Just watched an EX-CIA operative - thinks it is most likely homegrown.
Doesn't make it any better, actually makes it worse.

These "monsters" or "terrorists" are created by society. like it or not. Everyone is responsible and no one is accountable.

Just be *** good to each other. Why is that so hard for us?

Please don't bring political BS into this...At least wait til we know who did it.

I personally think leaning media attention in that direction just gives people who want to cause havoc more motivation to do so. Play down the culprit until he is in court, and up play the people who, after the bombs went off, rushed in to help the injured.

You're right. That was pretty wise.

Not that I'm a conspiracy theorist or anything but remember all that talk about 9/11 happening on a Pagan holiday calling for sacrifices (something about the whole thing being staged by Illuminati or something)? 4/15 is also a Pagan holiday calling for sacrifices. Granted this holiday is for sacrificing pregnant cows and their fetuses but doesn't most of the world refer to Americans as such?

Could be a bandwagoner, could be valid, could be anything really, who knows. All we know atm is that it's a terrible thing to happen :\

Every day in the year has some relevance in history. There's no point in delving too deeply into what that could mean, because chances are it's irrelevant.

Well I think the analogy was Americans are fat lazy cows. It's a stretch but some people would be referred to that I guess.

There are lazy fat people everywhere, I can understand trying to find meaning behind all the things for the fascination or paranoia of it, but that's a very big stretch.

America and Americans are a great many things to a great many people. Its the first time I've heard that reference (cows).
I wouldn't sweat it. Trust me, "cow" isn't one of the first things that comes to people's head when they see the american flag or watch an american movie. They might think "trash" and you can thank Lindsey Lohan for that.

Totally talking out of my *** when I assume the people of the world don't visualize a cow in association with America.
You're right. I don't know how I arrived at assumption. Everything points to Cow.

I don't associate Americans with cows. Neither does half the world, since half the known world attributes bovine creatures as some sort of holy being.

The reference you're thinking of is pigs - as in fat, lazy, dirty animals which like to roll around in their own filth. This better personifies how the world sees the average american, even if it still incorrect to make such an assumption. It's just what the world sees as a polar opposite to hollywood pretty boys - a potentially intentional contrast.

It's really sad what happened to those people in Boston BUT us Soldiers have been getting blown up or hit by IEDs daily, weekly, monthly for the past 10years but most people have forgotten. Think about that! And the next time you watch CNN or whatever news channel you prefer and you see Boston's scene, remember that theres still Soldiers in Afghan, living that life on the regular!

Not to derail, but to be truly compassionate in the spirit of your post, I think it would go a long way to also provide same consideration for the people of Afghanistan as well. War is just wrong.

If anyone was curious, that guy in that super-graphic picture I'm sure most everyone has seen is actually still alive. Quite miraculous given the extent of his injuries.

I am afraid this will come across as a bit crass, so let me stress beforehand that I am very sorry that soldiers get killed daily. I come from a heavily military-oriented family, and I am grateful for the risks that soldiers are willing to make.

BUT

Comparing civilians getting blown up to soldiers getting blown up makes no sense to me. Soldiers knew when they signed up for the military that there was a high risk of being hurt, killed, or coming home with psychological illness. Especially those that signed up in a time of war. They knew the risks, they assessed those risks, they decided that it was the right decision for their lives anyways, and they went ahead with their sacrifice. I am grateful to them. But they DID sign up for it. These people that were hurt in this marathon bombing, they didn't go to the marathon thinking that they might come home missing a limb, a family member, a life. They didn't *** that risk and say yes to it. They were unwilling participants, which makes this an entirely different situation from soldiers being harmed altogether.

Maybe it's just me, maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but to me there's just no comparison. To me, it's two completely different situations. One looked that lifestyle over and chose it, the other was quite literally an innocent bystander.

Again, I mean no disrespect to soldiers, so I really hope this didn't come across that way. :-(
