Explosions At The Boston Marathon

In War, both sides consider themselves to be "Good" for varying reasons. For Hitler, he took Germany to war as a means to "cleanse the earth of scum, and to build a home for the 'True Race'", and justified the mass slaughter of innocent people. He found allies with other nations, and thus the "Axis of Evil" was formed, while the rest of the world watched on with horror, some nations took it upon themselves to stop such violent means. And the Allied Forces began.

Sometimes seeing the difference between how we define good and bad is as simple as looking back through history, but that can also cause problems because we see things as we are, not as the events that unfold are.

Obviously my first paragraph is an extremely short summary, since part of the justification to going to war had to do with how Hitler viewed the ruling class at the time. Having bowed their heads in WWI, many Germans, mostly soldiers and officers, found this as disgraceful, and evil. Hitler believed the Jewish people to be evil, disgusting creatures, that they were not of the Aryan (Noble) Race.

Now... "Good" is often attributed to something beneficial, usually to mankind, a person, people, place, etc. or having high morals. "Evil" is something that usually conflicts with any of the aforementioned. When going to war, both sides typically believe they are justified for one reason or another, and believe that they are "good". It isn't until history is revealed that the people can honestly make any kind of judgment as to whether or not one side is "good" "evil", but because one country's people have attacked them, or they feel any kind of suffering, they then mark the other as "evil".
