I'd be incredibly critical of said legal definitions. Just seems like they massage words to fit whatever they want it to fit, whether it's accurate or not.

I was reading this news update on NBC News and noticed at the bottom...

NBC.News said:
An administration official said Tsarnaev was not read his Miranda rights and could be questioned without them for up to 48 hours under a special legal exception used in cases where public safety is at stake.

...I get the impression that given the severity of his criminal actions (and the question of whether more people were involved) that everyone is going to look the other way on this one, but I have to admit that these definitions empowering policy have the potential to be abused in less-scrupulous circumstances. :/

For certain, though, it's a huge relief for all involved there. The last few days must have been terrible in the area for residents.

Eh, not really. Like it was said, if public safety is at risk, they do not need to be read.

I mean, they could try and argue that the public was not at risk, but yeah, good luck with that.

Any confession that he gives before his Miranda rights are given to him cannot be used against him in court. He can however, still be found guilty by means of other evidence (Which there is more then enough of) collected against him.

The Miranda rule is not, however, absolute. An exception exists in cases of "public safety". This limited and case-specific exception allows certain unadvised statements (given without Miranda warnings) to be admissible into evidence at trial when they were elicited in circumstances where there was great danger to public safety.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miranda_warning

Not true

Sorry, I've been awake a long *** time and didn't coherently say what I meant:

Man, that is gonna leave one hell of a precedent. ***.

But it looks like I'm wrong either way.

So if he did this because he wanted to murder a bunch of people with no political agenda, he's not a terrorist?
Jonestown (the example given already, sorry) at face value was mass suicide/murder (which directly is not Terrorism)when you delve deeper into Jonestown it is Terrorism.

This at face value is mass murder. Until we find a political/religious/coercive motive behind this attack it by definition is NOT terrorism "yet".

But for all extensive purposes to expedite the public opinion that he should be tortured with high explosives, they will label him a terrorist for now and then say "oh im sorry, we now have to give you your constitutional rights. Frands?"

The common misonception that an event that causes mass terror/panic is immediately terrorism is whats wrong with the way the word is used. A public haunted house is terrorism because in a group of people it will cause intense feelings of terror and maybe even kill.

The news media today can be called terrorist organizations the way they report the news. The stories they put out can cause terror, panic buying/general panic.

Its a fundamental misunderstanding and misuse of the word and its meaning that blatantly makes me facepalm/scream at my TV. Moreso as they are trying to paint the picture of two islamic jihadist russians who where *** and noone loved them and they had to be stuper intelligent to make those bombs and it was utterly concerning that they didnt leave the city immediately.

Terrorism has become a catchy spook-all word that has lost its meaning. It's like the word racist in that its been used incorrectly so many times that its potency is diminished.

"I don't agree with Obama, I think we should protest the government"
"YOUR A TERRORIST!"

The laymans definition of terrorism is "spooky Muslims trying to destroy 'Murica" and the media/pols know it. It's why they jump to that word like I jump all over the word "***" when I'm upset - it adds potency to my speech and catches the attention of any who hear it.

The mass murder at Aurora, CO wasn't terrorism because there was no overt political agenda behind his actions. These two bombers likely did have some political agenda behind their actions and when that is confirmed then we can file this under terrorism.

As for what Bizarro had to say, I automatically call *** on anything else he might try to add to his "argument", as the case he presented for that little "test", he seemingly forgot about: Namely, the subject tested WAS a cop, hence trained to load, fire, and reload quickly, as police officers' lives are occasionally dependent on how quickly they can ready their weapons. Your common average popcorn hero or trailer park Rambo, however, does not receive that training unless they are A: A cop or B: In the military.

K since you can't be bothered to look something up and educate yourself I did it for you.

And as you can see if you bother to watch the video even the woman in this test who is NOT trained STILL achieved a reload before the "attacker" could get to her.

Again, you sir are misinformed and uneducated on what you are preaching. I don't care which side of the fence you are on, pro or anti, but you need to make sure you understand what you are talking about.
